You may just need to service the cooling system. The antifreeze has a life expectancy and needs to be changed after a few years. If it's green antifreeze it should be changed once a year or 30,000 miles with  50/50 mix and if it's the orange antifreeze it's good for 5 years and 150,000 miles before replacement with a 50/50 mix. You need to flush the cooling system out and replace the antifreeze and you may also want to replace the thermostat which can be un pleasant if you have larger hands. The thermostat housing is under the throttle body and if you have the right tools and small hands you can remove it with out taking the throttle body off. If you do decide to change the thermostat, replace it with the fail safe thermostat just to make sure your not stuck on the side of the road. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted. Be glad to help and do not use 100% antifreeze, it will just gel up and you'll still over heat.

It is probably time to flush the engine and refill with 50/50 coolant/antifreeze. check the radiator too--- the grid may be clogged or the radiator internal water passages blocked. does the cooling fan come on at all? if not it would get hot driving too usually. take a look at the belt tension for the water pump also.

I just worked on a 2001 oldsmobile sillihouette kept overheating after running for 15 minutes. It turned out the cooling system had air in it and just needed to be purged. I'm not sure if this is your problem but you might check to see if you have bleeder valves on your T-Stat housing or any of your water lines. If you do open them a little and see if air comes out. Be careful with HOT water if car has run awhile.

My 98 oldsmobile regency keeps popping 15amp fuse tal lights and speedometer are out. Replaced once it lasted 2 days. Tried to replace again and it popped as soon as I put it in the slot. HELP and Thank...

You most likely have a short to ground in the supply circuit. Work from the bulb socket backwards to the fuse. Check between the hot supply line to ground there should be not circuit when the fuse is out. If you find one at any point, the short is between the last 2 points you checked. As a visual inspection, look for any blackened metal around any of the contact points that will usually indicate a short.

99 oldsmobile cutlass fans only come on whn da a/c is running I've replace sa thermostat and one coolant temp sebsor watelse culd cause these problem

The drivers side fan is controlled by a engine temp sensor located just above the oil filter on a 3.1 V6. The fuse and relay are located on passenger side of engine in front of the coolant tank and under the crossbar. This fan will only come on when engine temp sensor tells it to, usually when the temp gage on the dash reads almost to hot.

The other fan is controlled by the A/C and should come on almost instantly when you turn on the A/C. Its fuse and relay are in the same spot as the other fans.

Hope this helps.

The heater blows hot air when in cool position on a 98 olds bravada

AC not working?

on a hot day it will blow warm/hot air if the AC is turned off or not working

If its hot air and AC is working then i would start by checking the fuse or relay. if its not the fuse/relay then i would look into the heater box there is a door that blocks the hot air

My 1991 olds cutlass ciera has been running hot. Had the thermostat replaced, the fan runs fine but I still have a problem of the car running hot while the air conditioner is running. Please help!

It sounds like one or both of two problems. The radiator cores may be clogged and not letting enough coolant through, or the radiator and condenser fins may be clogged and not letting enough air through. The only other thing I've seen with the same symptoms is an A/C unit running too much pressure on the high side which overheats the condenser and in turn the radiator.

I have a 1998 Olds Intrigue. Just had a tune up and replaced the upper intake manifold. Now I am getting a code that says the fuel is running too lean, Service Engine Light stays on. Also, When sitting...

Lean condition is a result of vacuum leaks, possibly at gaskets of upper manifold. You can check by spraying ether or carb cleaner at the gaskets with engine running. If engine revs at all, remove manifold to ensure gaskets properly installed.

Overheating: Make sure cable was reattached to temp sensor, and check for fan operation when engine gets hot.

What do i do to replace the fuse for the radio?

You'll find a fuse puller clipped inside the cover Fuse Panel, place the wide end of the fuse puller over the plastic end of the fuse. Squeeze the ends over the fuse and pull it out.

The RADIO fuse is in position 19, this and other details can find in your 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora - Owners Manual.

Hope help with this (remember comment and rated this post) Good luck.

Both fans have stopped working with the cooling systems i have checked all the fuses they seem to bo good i di not understand what it could possibly be if you could help that would be great the van keeps...

there is a thermal switch in engine that turns on/off fans as needed check this first test with wire probe and should have power to both sides if over heating, there is also a relay that connects the fans to power, this maybe bad. a decent auto store can help u locate these two parts and have a wire probe, also a chiltons repair manual ($25) will give schematics and step by step instructions on how to repair common issues and some diagnostic help on repairs

Your day time running lamp relay is located in the fuse box under the hood. Remove the fuse box cover and on the bottom of the cover you will see a fuse and relay diagram.
Good luck, let me know.
