I broke mine off a Chrysler vehicle just a couple of weeks ago and I had to get some pliers and slowly unscrew it. I had to pry the "top" part that kept spinning off and then you will have access to the part that actually screws in. It is poorly designed and you can get another at AutoZone for under 10 bucks. Hope this helps.

Will a broken gas cap cause the engine to cut out after it warms up

Not likely

It will set Evap System Codes, if it lets air into the tank

Wouldn't you address the gas cap issue & resolve that
first, then check for OBD Codes & see if all Emission
Monitors ran, then come here with a question

When the Evap Monitor runs & it is the last to do so,only
every few days,it will let extra unmetered air into the intake
& that will be seen as a lean condition in the exhaust converter
& the computer will add fuel,so your engine performance
problem your feeling

Oil leaked out from the oil cap and the engine cover has a missing screw

Oil may have been over filled , if not a faulty cap , the missing screw wouldnt cause a leak from the cap , check no oil leakage around missing screw (may need to clean area first) this could cause rocker cover gasket not being compressed properly

Tach. drop's to zero while driving 70 ?

I have had the almost same problem twice. A 'thump', like the engine missed a fire and tach drops. Seems OK after restart. Electrical? Timing chain slip?
Has 135,000 mile. Any clues?
