By the way we do not have a Cadillac dealer on my island,so I need detailed info on this problem in order for the local mechanic to fix the problem.

Hi, right off the bat it sounds like a anti-lock brake issue. Have you done anything to the vehicle yet?

Also, looking for info for your car, what size motor do you have, a V-6 or the V-8?

Okay...looked at a few other things for your. Have you had the engine light code read? That is what is done when the check engine light comes on. Also, please post the codes. Where are you located at and do you have a way to have the codes read? Most automotive parts stores will read it for free.

Other things it could be is the wheel speed sensors and a couple of other items. Also, the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)/Brake Pressure Modulating Valve (BPMV).

The transmission needs to be check for consistency. Better go to a certified auto mechanic and have it checked.

Engine misses at idle only, check engine light goes on and off

I have a 2001 Cadillac DTS with the exact same problem. Nobody including the dealer could figure out what was wrong. I replaced all the coils and the problem stopped happening for a while. Eventually I sold the car for parts. Feh! Very disappointed in Cadillac.

How do you adjust the idle on a 2005 cadillac CTS

get qualified as a GM tech, get a real engine diagnostic analyzer, hook it up, find and fix any problems, then follow the service guide instructions for setting the idle.

the days of adjusting those yourself have been gone for 20 years. if you do not know what you are doing, leave it to someone who does, or you will make it even worse.

Hello: None known. Check the gas cap. Find out what code is causing the light to come on. Go to Auto Zopne or other parts store and get them to read the code.

Engine was running slightly rough with some skipping/or jumping. check engine light is on. Changed oil today, engine no longer running rough but the check engine light is still on. 159,621 miles

Go to an auto parts store, they will scan your OBD II memory for the check engine light code. And from ther they should tell you why it`s on, and what needs to be fixed and/or replaced.

I recomend advanced auto parts.
