Question about 1988 Jeep Cherokee
Has a hard time starting. Seems like no gas pressure. When it finally starts. it cuts out when gas pedal is depressed. won't maintain an idle. I can hear the fuel pump running and I actually took it out and hooked it up to 12v and it runs. Checked fuel filter - ok
"Seems" is a bad word when doing testing...You need real pressure tests done with a gauge attached to the fuel rail. I hope you kept the pump submerged in fuel when you ran it off the battery...they will quickly fail if run without cooling and lubrication provided by fuel ...many failures can be traced to running tank low a lot or running out of fuel for that very reason (also dangerous...spark near fuel can start a fire!!! )
