Question about Cars & Trucks
If a steering wheel position sensor were bad, this would set a trouble code in the vehicle stability system and turn on a warning light. It would not cause an actual difference in the way the vehicle steers. If you can slightly turn the wheel and the vehicle keeps tracking in the same direction, I would suggest having the front end alignment checked. If the toe-in is set incorrectly it can cause this concern.
Have the alignment checked and have the technician check for any play in the steering gear or other steering components. This type of problem should be evident with a good inspection at the time of alignment.
