Question about Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

On my 97 honda accord when the car is on and the lights are off everything flashes. The dash lights, the four ways, and every light in the car. When the lights are on tho it's ok, until you go to use the turn signal or hazards. At which point they are just a solid unblinking light. I pulled the flasher and tried to see if they would still flash and they didn't. I'm not sure if it would be the multi function switch or some bad wiring.

After pulling the flasher relay did it stop all the lights flashing or just the turn signals ? if was just the turn signals then the light switch would seem the culprit , try disconnecting this switch and see if the dash lights stop flashing ,if they do that would tell you the problem is with the switch if they keep flashing then the fault could be in the lighting relay ,keep me posted

then i would renew the flasher relay as could be causing a short circuit through the instrument panel etc

Your multi-function switch is likely toast and shorting internally. Removing the column shroud and inspecting the wiring will tell you if it's wiring. Given the fact the headlamps work but everything else doesn't suggests multi-function switch.

You need a new hazard light switch - the relay for the hazards and turn signals is built in. It's $40 or so at a dealership to buy a new one.

Hazard light switch... They all intermingle in operation.
My ex wifes 96TC was doing the same thing... I could OCCASIONALLY get the hazards to work by turning the hazard switch on/off like 10 times in a row and suddenly it would fix... finally bought a new switch

SOURCE: all of a sudden my left turn signal light came on

SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD T-SIGNAL FLASHER,& OR SWITCH, OR A BAD HAZZARD SWITCH,& OR FLASHER,YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK ALL OF YOUR T-SIGNAL BULBS ALSO, JUST TO SEE IF YOU MAY HAVE A BAD BULBS, IT ALSO COULD BE A BAD GROUND ON ONE OF THE T-SIGNAL BULB SOCKETS.

Bad light switch at dash. Some cars/trucks are easier than others to replace. If you get a repair manual for your make and model, it'll lead you through the procedure.

I have an 01 honda accord and the battery light the doorlight and brake light are all flashing what can cause that

I have a 1998 Honda Accord 4cyl vtec that is doing the same thing but only when its cold. Once the car warms up the lights stop flashing. When this does happen the wipes are slow, light the alternator isn't charging properly. This isn't a service light issue. I know how to reset this light. Lights on the dash that flash are the battery light, the door open indicator lights on the dash and the brake light - all at the same time. I had the battery replaced since mine was two years old but this didn't fix it.
