1 Answer

1989 5 speed manual 3l V6 Pajero. Can anyone decribe the exact refill location for the gearbox is?? I have read that it is at the front of the box but I can't see or feel it???

If it is where people are saying it is I can't see anyway of releasing it let alone refilling it?! Any advice will be welcome.

you need to have a mechanic change the head gasket. Possibly the water disappeared because the head gasket was blowing thus allowing the coolant into the cylinders where it was converted to steam which showed up as white smoke.

Gear does not shift from the 1st to the next, what is the problem?

Hi Jeremiah, Has anyone carried out any engine work? If so an over adjusted kick down cable could have the effect you're referring to. If not try flushing the gearbox by draining, dropping the oil pan and replacing the internal oil filter, replace the pan, refill the box and take the vehicle on a ten minute run, drain the fluid once again and refill with new ATF once again. If there is no improvement the problem is in the box, but I believe you will notice a marked improvement. Regards John

Torque to 25Nm, then tighten through a further 79 degrees. You need an angle gauge to do it properly.

Replace cause your temp gauge will read normal, being it's coolant temp sensor not an air sensor will give you bad reading. Replace will damage your engine.
