SOURCE: Run out of fuel, rolled

Oh, oh! Hopefully it is the fuse in the fuse box for the fuel pump. Worse: fuel pump--very expensive for some cars--but if you can get a used one out of a wrecked car--( Salvage yard)with NOT A LOT OF MILES ON IT--it will be much cheaper. Most, if not all are located in the fuel tank--which is another expense to remove tank & install the new one. good luck.

My van shut down while turning a corner. Now sarts and runs a few seconds then stops.if you try a few times will not start.next will start and run a few seconds and die as before.

Nothing I can think of would cause such a situation other than just too low on fuel for the pump to pick it up and keep it running. Have you checked the fuel level? I'm not saying anything other than the fact that your fuel gage could be showing an improper amount in the tank. Could also be a dirty fuel filter not allowing enough fuel through to keep it running.

My 86 ranger keeps shutting down It has good fuel pressure New fuel pumps Will turn on then shut down What's going on? Could it be the distributor ?

Good fuel pressure from the pump is fine, at the pump. But if it can't flow constantly it WILL shut down. Have you though about changing the fuel filter? even a dirty fuel filter will allow enough fuel to the engine to allow it to run for a few seconds or so. When that little bit is gone, can't get enough to still run.

92 Dakota 3.9 L fuel pump won't shut off. What is going on?

the fuel pump relay contacts may have fused together, remove the relay and see if it stops, if it nuns for10 minutes then stops points to fuel fault, replace the filter then check pressure and flow. if the pressure is low check the fuel regulator and pump.

I have a 93 K3500 with a 454. Truck was running fine, started no problem, ran great. Driving the other day, turn the corner and the engine quit. Cranked the engine, fired up for 2-3 seconds then quit, ...

Before starting the engine, the fuel pump should only run for a few seconds when the key is first turned, to pressurize the fuel system. Even though the pump appears to be running, you may either have not enough or too much pressure for the engine to keep running (fuel pump or pressure regulator). I think it may just be a coincidence the engine quit while turning a corner, but the gas in your tank may have been so low it sloshed away from what is likely a very old pump, starving it and causing it to failure.

Fuel pumps not working. Have changed eec relay, fuel pump relay, checked fuse and inercia switch not triped. Any suggestions?

When you turn the key to "ON', or "START" the fuel pump should run just enough to pressurize the system, and shut off. When engine is actually started, the pump will run continuously. Sounds like the pump relay is not getting the signal to run the pump from the key being turned to "on" or "start". Also, some vehicles can sense fuel pressure so there may be an issue with that sensor as well. In other words it thinks there is proper pressure or maybe too much pressure and wont let the pump run. I am curious to know what you find.

2004 honda, lost power and sputters. Will crank with gas pedal to floor but not enough power to move car. take foot off pedal and it dies

sounds like it is starving for fuel. check fuel pump relay to make certain pump is running. if it is, change fuel filter this may help. the best way to check to see if pump is running is to have someone turn car to on, not start. and feel the vibration at fuel tank with your hand. a pump only runs for a few seconds. until it gets pressure to engine. then when engine is running its on until you shut car back off. you may have to turn key on a few times to feel a vibration. good-day!!

Anti-theft light not flashing new fuel pump went in store came out no start.theres no spark, and theres no fuel the just turns over, but wont start

this sounds like the anti-theft system has activated not allowing you to start car.the system shuts down spark and fuel.you may need to reprogram the key to the car again.i think that if you turn the key in the on position for 3 minutes then off wait for 5 seconds i think and back on for 3 mins and off and again one more time.the 4th time you should be able to start the car.

2003 Jetta, starts and shuts off after 5-10 sec.

i think you have to have the fuel pump checked. it seems that its not pumping enough gas to the engine so it shuts off after burning the remaining fuel in the line.

Maybe weak fuel pump. It pumps when you turn the key on (fills fuel lines) but it dosn't pump enough to keep the car running. Could also be a partially cloged inline fuel filter.

Volvo will not start, no fuel pump sound

You should hear a hum from the gas tank when u turn the key to on for about 5 seconds, if not the pump is most likely bad, to replace the pump u must remove the fuel tank, remember to replace the fuel filter when u do the pump.
