SOURCE: O2 Sensor for Dodge dakota 98

You could replace the sensor yourself but you'd need a diognostic computer to clear the error codes from your car's ecm or you'll continue to have the problem even after you replace the sensor. A lot of the mobile mechanics have these diognostic computers with their tools.

I have a 97 Ford Explorer AWD 8 cylinder. Check engine light comes on and I get code p303. Vehicle bucks at times, uses lots of gas. Believe it may be 02 censor, spark plugs and wires tested ok. Any Idea

code says #3 cylinder misfire, check the coil pack for this cylinder to see if its got spark, bad o2 sensor will spit another code, its most likely the coil

Is there a way to reset the check engine light on my 97 disco? I replaced the o2 sensor but don;t want to spend the money to go to dealer to reset. can i do this myself somehow?

First off, you never have to set foot in a
dealership in your entire lifetime

The O2 Sensor, I hope you changed
yourself. That was a 10 min job

Disconnect the battery and see if the code clears

Some O2 codes clear when the new sensor is installed

I have engine code 443 saying slow response os sensor does this mean i have to replace the sensor this is on 1997 ford explorer truck. i also had a vapor leak code so i replace the gas cap will that solve...

Most likely if is going to be a bad o2 sensor, especially in a car that is from 97. About the vapor leak, it could be the gas cap, put it could be a leak anywhere in the EVAP system too. If you fill you gas tank with the car running it can set the same code, so it may not even have a problem at all. The best way to check an EVAP leak is with a smoke machine.
