I have a frontera 2.2 petrel it keeps cuting out but starts strat away but some times theres no power for about 5 minits after that its ok untill it cuts out again

start with 3 liters oil. Start engine at least for two minutes fill up oil filter. Turn off engine and check oil level. Keep adding with engine off until full reading on dip stick guage. keep record of oil added for future reference. Make sure oil API is at least SL

I have a 1996 frontera petrel 2.2 it drives well but some times when driving it losses power and cuts out. It will start strat away but no power for about 5 minits then after that its fine


I would go get your fuel system cleaned... Walmart offers that service. Cheap so worth it to rule that out if problem persist. Engine needs air and fuel to produce power. Lack of power fuel or sparks plugs first place to rule out.

WeMy power steering fluid was leaking I tool it to the shop they told me It was the pump so I brought a new pump and got It put in and now I still cant turn my steering wheel

Won't strat just turns over


There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

If the o2 sensors are bad, there will be a computer code for it. So why didn't he do it the first time? You can't just replace parts with the hope that once you replace enough of them the problem goes away like a new car.
Lose the mechanic. Find one that will give you a correct diagnosis and repair it based on the correct diagnosis. Replacing parts till the problem goes away is a dumba$$, expensive way to troubleshoot. Actually, it isn't troubleshooting at all.

Car petrol engine revolution surges.


Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Although this particular problem should not happen any more, your description sounds a lot like ''vapor lock.'
This was once a fairly common occurance and was caused by gasoline actually turning from liquid to vapor in a hot metallic fuel line.
If mine, I would check the fuel line routing to see if it is passing too close to the exhaust manifold or other hot spot.
