Question about 1999 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

The wipers on my Hyundai Sonata move up only an inch or so then slam down. They do this with out the lever in the car being moved. In fact the lever in the car doesn't seem to work at all. This is repeated over and over while the car is on.

The company has a good solution and they will fix it for you when taken to the service center. Check for Recalls, you no doubt have free repairs waiting to be done.

If I understand you correctly, you have ALL forward gears working, but reverse doesn't?... then the problem is in the transmission itself or the linkage on the trans linkage into reverse.

SOURCE: Hyundai Sonata 2006 - Check Engine light came on.

"Fuel system too lean at idle". It's an air/fuel ratio that is not correct, possibly a vacuum leak somewhere. Or a leaky exhaust pipe. Could be related to intake manifold gasket. Somewhere, air is getting into the engine.

I suggest taking it back to the dealer under warranty. I think Hyundai is 10yr./100k for the original owner. 5yr./50k if not. Ask first if covered, and ask why not id not covered.

THe wipers are connected to the motor by a lever and crank. It is possible that the clip holding the lever to the crank has come off allowing it to fall from the motor. You can repair it if you can get to it.

My 2007 hyundai sonata has a problem with the drivers side windshield wiper not moving and the passanger side does? what is wrong?

Sounds like you sheared the connection between the arm and post. Did you turn on the wipers while they were froze or had a lot of ice/snow on them? Only fix is to replace the arm. About $40 from the dealer.

2001 sonata wiper fuse keeps blowing

If the fuse blows as soon as you put it in and the wipers are off then you have a short between the fuse block and the wiper switch.

If the fuse blows only when you turn the wipers on then more than likely the wiper motor has shorted and burned out. This one is very likely if the snow storm was heavy and you was driving in it. Cause- Moving large amounts of snow and ice off the window puts a heavy load on the wiper motors.
