Question about 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

We have a 1996 3.1 we replaced the crackshaft sensor on it but it still cracks and backsfire when tring to start what else could we do

We have a 1996 3.1 Monte Carlo ls we replaced the crankshaft sensor and it still wont start it will crank and try to start and then backs fire what else can we do please help

It is not the sensor: The problem is in the fuel adjustment, timing, and/or gas line filter, etc. Too many reasons and needs a total checkup.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the right knock sensor. Remove the catalytic converter from the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement. 1988 honda accord dx stalls after starting when cold, when tring to restart smells like fuel and wont start


check if the air intake is clear , no cracks/split etc in the pipe work , air filter is clean,if look ok then i'd get the stepper motor checked out as a first step

My 99 dodge advenger keeps on dying, and wont start back up sometimes


try the camshaft/crackshaft position sensor...its one of two forget which though...only has the one so just the guy at the parts store... thats what mine was doing and replacing it solved the problem

1996 jeep grand chrokee turns over will not start, replaced cam shaft censor and ECM, and coil. distibuter cap looks bad has some white dust inside and contacts burnt. could it be that?


If you did not replace the CRANK sensor on the back side of the motor this most likely is the problem and a very common one at that.this controls spark and injector pulse,unlike the cam sensor which just shows when #1 cilyder is up.

engine coolant temp. sensor is cracked pull it out it is on the side of the head.. easy fix you will see its cracked when you pull it 15 dollar fix

Rough start


The coolant temperature sensor is reading incorrectly. This is a very common problem for s-series cars. Usually the sensor is cracked and leaking into the connector so it will be corroded and need to be replaced also.
