no. it automaticly locks. it;'s a safety feature, bunch of ********, to make you waste money. but it's true. you need to replace it. the manufacturer designed it that way. no joke.

If you cannot get it, I would have to think that the dealer has to fix that-safety and emissions are covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles, I am pretty sure. It it can be pushed/pulled, it might release, otherwise make it the dealer's problem.
