Test the maf and tps

Volume Air Flow (VAF) Meter
Print
OPERATION
This component is used on 22R-E, 1FZ-FE, 3VZ-E and 3F-E engines.

This meter measures the amount of air flowing through the intake system. It is used by the ECM to calculate air/fuel mixture.

TESTING
22R-E, 1FZ-FE and 3VZ-E Engines
See Figure 1

Disconnect the wiring from the VAF meter.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals E2 and VS. Resistance should be as follows:
1FZ-FE and 3VZ-E-200-600 ohms

Fig. 1: Attach the ohmmeter to terminals E2 and VS

If the test is not within specification, replace the unit.

Throttle Position Sensor
OPERATION
Throttle position sensors are usually mounted on the side of the throttle body. The sensor detects the throttle valve opening angle. The voltage of terminal VTA increases in proportion of the opening angle of the throttle valve. The ECM judges the driving conditions from the input signals of the terminals, and uses them as one of the conditions for deciding the air/fuel ratio correction, power increases and fuel cut-off control.
TESTING 3VZ-E and 1FZ-FE Engines
Confirm that the throttle valve is fully closed.Connect an ohmmeter to terminals IDL and E2. E2 is the bottom terminal, while terminal IDL is positioned directly above it.
Insert a 0.020 in. (0.50mm) thick feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and lever. Check for continuity between terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor. Continuity should be present.Insert a 0.031 in. (0.80mm) thick feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and lever. Check for continuity between terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor. Continuity should not be present.

great question ,even what engine, a 1 in 10,000 post. congrats
1FZ-FE on most engines, its near the water thermostat.
there are only 2 ways to find this the FSM or lookone line on the official toyota parts list or google all day.
oops, google second hit find the FSM page. directly
so, there go .

seems to be above the oil filter?>

these drawings are from Kinglons,
in almost every case its not bad. so.... ask why or ask for diagnosis.
other drawings show it on left side of engine (left means USA, drivers set, LHD)

Remove sump

sump what sump.
are you asking an engine question?
what is wrong?, tell the story, or at least a tiny hint so we can get on the same page..
my wild guess is the engine oil pan (sump) and not tranny or other
sump like objects. or other many fluid containers all very sump like.
but the answer is in the FSM, buy one, and read how to remove anything on the car.
here state side we have alldata.com and dont need books until
we break 10 parts and then read the authortive manual.

Hey guys , I have an 97 lancruiser with 1FZ-FE

Lube the seal real good wrap string around the slot so it won't slip inbetween the gear the the dizzy and gently force the o-ring onto the gear, no need to remove gear then slide it all the way on, If you mean dizzy as the distributor mate. cut the old ring off with a razor blade and roll the o ring into place.
