Where is the low side port located on a 2002 GMC Envoy?

I am trying to add Freon to the low side port but the hose isn't connecting. It keeps popping off when I turn on the can.

SOURCE: need fuse box diagram 2002 gmc envoy

If I remember correctly if you look at the back side of the fuse cover, it should tell you what the fuses are. Also in the owners manual in the index, under fuses, it should give you a diagram of the fuse location for the acc. outlets. Good luck. The fuse should be a 20 or 25A fuse.

SOURCE: 2002 gmc envoy shuts off when i turn on the ac whil ideling

If it does it when idling I would suspect an IAC motor (Idle Air Control). If it is opening too slowly the added air the motor needs will not be supplied fast enough and the engine will kill.

It could be other things also but this is where I would start.

SOURCE: i need to add freon ton a 1998 suburban. I

If the compressor will run turn it on and let it run for a few minutes, the line that gets cold is the low pressure side, this is usually the one closest to the firewall. The reason that they are 6 inches apart is that they are on opposite sides of the orfice tube, hence one is high pressure and one is low.

Where is the ac port located to add freon

On a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero LTD, the a/c charging port is between the battery and the windshield. It is the port that has a cap labeled with an "L" (Low Side).

When the a/c is on, "L" (Low Side) gets cold while the "H" (High Side) gets hot.

Make sure you use the Low Side (cold) for adding Freon.

(note: over the counter freon kits should not fit the High Side port anyways) 6d9ed8b1-112d-471e-93a4-44bee9a08459.jpg

LOCATE PORTS TO ADD FREON

the low pressure port is usually in the accumulator (aka receiver/drier) which is the large silver cylinder on the passenger side. If its not there, sometimes it is on the a/c compressor on the marge diameter hose/line. The high side is on the smaller line near the coolant reservoir. The low side is the one you want to fill with.

Air conditioner does not cool in 2000 Yukon. How do I check freon level and how to replace freon if need be

Get an r134a refrigerant add kit from Walmart or your local auto parts store.

You can even get a can of Arctic Freeze by Intermatics that has a hose and a gauge on it.

Connect the hose to the low side port. You can find this port on the 'thicker' piping that comes off of the compressor (versus the thinner piping that comes off the compressor which is the high pressure side).

Pressure should read 25 psi to 45 psi on the low pressure side when the compressor is running and the a/c is on.

Pressure should read 75 psi to 100 psi on a hot day when the car is off.

However, you'll want the a/c to be running when you add freon.

Press the button on the can to install more freon, if needed.

Add freon

You have to locate the low pressure line and connector port. Trace the two lines back to the firewall that come from the compressor. You will find 1 port on each line. They are usually covered by a plastic cap of some type that unscrews. Your refill hose, assuming you have a standard refill can with attached gauge, will only attached to the low pressure side. The two ports are slightly different in size. The low pressure side should be the larger of the two lines you are tracing from the compressor.

Adding freon

There are 2 ports, the low pressure side is larger in diameter, and that is where you attach the freon container.
The thinner hose is the high pressure side, and is not where you add freon, but only attach a gauge.
Wear eye protection.
Locate the receiver/dryer, after the condenser.
It is a cylinder with a small glass port at the top.
With the engine running, add freon until you no longer see bubbles in this sight glass. But do not add more than that or you could blow the pump on liquid.
You can put the freon can in a bowl of warm water as it slowly is sucked in and ices up.

My GMC Envoy A\C Keeps turning off

First take these steps. Your envoy has a low press switch and a high press switch. If to low it shuts the a/c off , if to high it shuts a/c off. If you had a set of a/c guages you could hook them up when the a/c is working you should have low side press around 30 to 40 and high side 200 and above. If low side is like 10 or 20 then its low on freon. being a 2002 it is a good chance you have a leak and lost freon over time. A shop can put it on a machine and evac the system and they can see how much came out in lbs. They can also put dye in the system when they recharge to find the leak. you can if you want buy a can from like walmart that has a hose and gage attached to it and hook it up and first look at your low side reading if below 30 then charge up system to get above 30. some of these cans also have uv dye in them so in the future when it leaks down again you can tell them it already has dye in it. that is what i would do first it takes care of alot of items. then write back if still having problems and then its on to testing high and low switches and so forth

#1 you will need r134a freon. #2 the low side service port is located right at the firewall where tha line goes to the evaporator. #3 if wou bought a can of 134a freon with a hose that will hook to it, it will work. all service fittings for 134a freon are the same even though the high side and the low side will always differ
