Two people here to test it; while another person tries to start it, lightly hit the starter and see if it starts to work. If it does start working, then the starter is defective. If it don't start cranking over then check your battery cables for damage, lose or corrosion. 99% bet first at starter go to bad; 2nd possibilitie the ignition switch.

Confirm if
you can hear the fuel pump come on when you first turn the key on? like a humm? Do you know what the fuel pressure is? Does it have spark to the spark plugs?

Keep us updated.

Your guess would be mine too; starter or solenoid.

Although, I would look at the cable, both at the starter and at the battery, even if not apparently loose, there still could be corrosion on the cable at the connector.

Does the starter make a loud click or clicking sound, when you try to start?

1. If no single loud click sound, suspect the wiring or solenoid (and recheck battery/charge system)

2. If making single loud click sound, suspect the starter.

3. If making multiple clicking sounds, suspect wiring or recheck battery.

I hope this helps. Post comments and let me know what your finally find out. J

You need to do an OBD2 engine control module fault code test to see if the fault is recorded in the memory of the computer control module. Autozone and others do this testing for free.

I have a 2000 plymouth breeze it will not start found out iot was the timing belt replaced it an it still won't start.

You need to narrow down the issue. Start with spark meaning does it have any. Then move to fuel delivery and pressure. Without those it doesn't matter what you do it wont start. Fuel is easy to verify just pour a bit into the intake and crank the engine. If it starts you know you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't have spark then you have a coil, ignition module, crank sensor, cam sensor, or knock sensor issue.

One thing you need to be very sure of is if the when replacing the timing belt that both timing marks (camshaft and crankshaft) are where they are suppose to be. Remember the crank turns twice for every one cam rotation. So is it 180 degrees out?

I have a 2000 plymoth breeze i parked it for the winter while i was out of town and new it trys to start but wont the fuel pump works and some thing clicks when i try to tun on but no engine activity.

On newer cars I have seen them crank over but not fire if the battery is too low. If the battery gets to low and below 32 degrees it can freeze and ruin it but still have enough power to run lights, pump, etc. If the car will start with jumper cables, I would have a load test done on the battery right away. Most parts stores will do this for free.

SOUNDS LIKE the engine siezed the oil light was an indicator there was no oil pressure with no oil pressure the engine would have been damaged severly use a 3/4" socket and ratchet on the crankshaft pulley and try and turn the engine over by hand it should turn freely and you should feel all 4 cylinders compression as the cylinder comes up on the compression stroke
