The code may not be cleared by battery disconnect. You need to clear it with a reader. The code may not clear without a specific number of run cycles. Can you post the year make and model?

Clean it up and spray it with some solvent and let it soak...the o-ring is probably melted..you can also tap it with a rubber mallet to free it up. Of course, the retainer bolt has to be removed.
I hope this helps.

Jeep just shuts off driving down the road but will restart in 5 minutes. the guages go crazy before this happens.

The first thing i would check is the crankshaft position sensor, I have seen the wires for the sensor melt on the exhuast, i would also check the oxygen sensor harnesses for the same concern. shorted sensor wires will cause powertrain control module to shut down.

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

2.3L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.
