Will the odometer reading from my original Alero show on the replacement gauge cluster or will I have to get it reflashed?

The mileage on your new (used) instrument cluster will show the mileage from the car it came out of, not the mileage on your vehicle. You'll need to get it reprogrammed which the dealer can do or there are independent shops that can do it too but they're kind of tough to find.

My speedometer works but my digital odometer does not work on my 2003 old alero

This is one guy's advice: Replace the speedo head, that should take care of the problem."

This site is also interesting because the guy said
General Motors cars had instrument cluster problems from 2003 through 2006. When I researched instrument cluster problems on the Internet what I found raised concerns in me. Many of those vehicles had problems that began with the instrument cluster, but eventually led to the engine refusing to start.
(an electronic instrument cluster, digital instrument panel or digital dash for short, is a set of instrumentation, including the speedometer, that is displayed with a digital readout rather than with the traditional analog gauges. Many refer to it simply as a digital speedometer.)

Instrument cluster is going crazy

The instrument cluster is what holds your speedometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge, odometer, etc. You can get one from a scrap yard. Call around to local scrap yards and ask them if they have any cars that are the same model as your's. Some scrap yards will have already pulled parts and have them available for purchase.

Keep in mind that when you go to sell the vehicle, you need to inform the buyer of the situation with the cluster and that the mileage on the odometer does not reflect the actual miles.

Speedometer, odometer, and gas gauge not working

Sounds like you have a bad Instrument Cluster (Also called a Speedometer) and the easiest thing to do is to go to a Salvage Yard and replace it. You can also go to EBAY or www.car-part.com and there is a locator for cars by Price/Distance and you can get a used one. I just checked and there are 12 between the price of $15 - $40 on Car-Part.com.

How to fix odometer numbers fade in and out

Yes, unfortunately if the numbers are fading in and out, the circuit is going bad. There are 2 ways to fix. Of course your GM dealer will remove the gauge cluster and send it off to be repaired...usually a 1 year warranty. The least costly would be to replace the cluster yourself. Find a similar model in a salvage yard or online...and switch the cluster out yourself. This does alter the accurate mileage on your Sunbird however. Hope this helps.

The odometer and fuel gauge are not working my my 1990 buick regal custom. I've been told I had to replace the instrument cluster - any idea where I might find one?

Hello...

Next to a dealer, a salvage yard should have one. If there is not one where you are located you can do a search on the internet and find one that has the cluster and they can ship it to you.

2004 Chevy Speedometer quit working

The best suggestion I can provide you with is what I have done many times. Go to your local salvage yard and locate this model car wrecked and get the speedometer out of it to replace your faulty one.
You can fill out an odometer reading statement with the state if you wish, (many people don't) and you can just install the new replacement and move on with your life with a working speedometer that didn't break your bank account.

Odometer stopped working

IF YOUR SPEEDO IS WORKING THEN YOUR VSS IS OKAY, BAD VSS WILL STOP SPEEDO AND USALLY CAUSE HARD SHIFTING. NORMALLY ODO IS CONTROLLED BY SERVO MOTOR WHICH MAY HAVE WENT OUT. CHECK EBAY FOR REPAIR SERVICES OR SIMPLY GET A SALVAGE CLUSTER AND HAVE MILEAGE RESET

Check engine, gauge and fuel light on

I'd guess that the cluster died. Cheapest fix is a used one from a salvage yard. You want a yard that'll also install it, that way you'll know it works when they put it in.
