Sounds as if you need the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The contacts inside are most likely worn out.

it's probably your starter, buut you might check your gear shift if it is an automatic, and make sure it is in park all the way...

I would pull out the starter and see what I could find, either the starter or the fly wheel. If you remove the starter you can look at the fly wheel and the starter. Good luck

Nissan maxima wont start sometimes...keep trying 5-10 times then starts. Dealer guessed it was poss the alarm. can i turn off alarm...they said i have to cut or take out entire alarm...

I had the same problem with my maxima and the alarm I replaced my starter and haven't had any problems with it yet and my alarm is back and up running as we'll so I would start with your starter.... The starter will not kick in so when I try to start it it just whirl.

Sounds like the bendix in the starter is bad, if it isn't engaugeing in the fly wheel, replace the starter

When I start my 99 nissan maxima their is grinding/spinning sound just after I release the key.

this sounds like the stater motor is sticking in the fly wheel and is being pulled round by the engine.

on the starter motor there is a spring that ejects the drive gear out to meet the fly wheel of the engine when you switch on. Once the engine starts and you release the key this should spring back in again. It seems this is not happening.
it could mean it just needs a bit of grease in the spring best to remove and test, grease it up and replace.
if this is not actioned eventually the starter motor will be damaged and will have to be replaced anyway but that will cost a lot more. as your car is 11 years old i could well be wise to have the starter motor replaced anyway.
this is only an assumption but i would recommed having the starter motor tested or a second opinion from your local Nisan dealership or qualified machanic.

Car wont start , and clicks battery is fine also grounds and connections any other thoughts?

Highly possible problem is the starter solenoid. You may hae to replace starter. Remove and have it checked.

Broken timing belt on 1993 Nissan Maxima

this is an interference motor, if the timing belt snapped/broke while running. Its possible that you may have internal engine damage(worst case). I suggest having a mechanic check it out before performing the belt replacement. Hopefully this helps

Starting problems

IF its not a fuel issue as in you checked your fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors and pressure regulator, try having your timing belt looked at. Maybe its time to replace it. Check your crank and camshaft sensors as well.

1993 Nissan Maxima, Non-Start

Hello, I would assume this is a starter problem. You can go to Autozone and get a free diagnostic of your electrical system for free and tell you if your starter, alternator, battery is bad and/or if you have any trouble codes present in your system. I would also check your battery connections to see if they are tight and I would also check and see if your starter cables are tight as well. I hope this helps you and Good Luck!

if its not turning the engine over then it's probably the solenoid stopped working , u will still hear the starter turning but it wont engage the fly wheel and will not start the car
