Coolant line connection. check the radiator hose clamps on upper radiator hose. Your upper radiator hose connects to your engine and in that hose there is a thermostat and a gasket. souds like your gasket is bad. simple fix. cheap for a thermostat gasket.

I think you had better have a local shop inspect this for a failed engine connecting rod.

Change head gasket on 65 mustang 200

Drain antifreeze -DON"T POUR IT DOWN A STORM DRAIN - then remove valve cover, Remove exhaust from head assembly. On this engine the head is also the intake manifold - it's cast as a unit. Remove carb and remove heater hoses from carb base plate. Remove head bolts and discard. Break head loose from block - may have to smack it a time or two to break gasket loose. Get a buddy to help lift the head off the block - it's fairly heavy. Clean gasket surfaces on both head and block. Install new gasket onto block - pay attention to gasket orientation - it goes on only one way correctly. Reverse procedure to re-install - USE NEW HEAD BOLTS! Silly to try to save $20 bucks on bolts and ruin an engine.

I will like to know if the antifreeze leak could be from the water pump if the leak comes from the bottom of the car and not from the radiator

ALL antifreeze leaks will be seen coming from the bottom of the car. Yes, it COULD becoming from the water pump. But then again, it could be coming from an intake manifold gasket, a heater hose, a throttle-body heater hose, a freeze plug, a timing cover, a heater control valve, etc..
To find out where it is leaking from, you must follow the antifreeze trail UP from where you see it leaking. Antifreeze leaks ALLWAYS travel downhill. Sometimes they can be deceiving also. I have seen intake manifold leaks at the front of the engine run all the way to the back of the engine and make it look like a rear freeze plug is leaking. Again, you must follow the trail to find the actual source.

Just pulled the intake manifold on my BBC and found antifreeze in all of the closed intake valves, what caused that??

Not sure what engine you are speaking of, (other than BBC) but if you did not drain your cooling system before removing the intake manifold, any coolant in the manifold distribution channels would pour out through the easiest path once the gasket seal was broken.

My 1998 Buick Lesabre ,I just had an oil change, it just developed has noisy lifters. Also the antifreeze reservoir is always losing the fluid, I am always refilling.

Suggest you check your exhaust on startup, is it very steamed up. Unless you see fluid on the ground after you have been driving, it may be being burnt inside the engine via a leaking head gasket, causing part of the head to misfire, 1 or 2 cyls. Is the oil milky? a sure sign of a leaking manifold gasket. At the end of the day, the coolant must be going somewhere, if its not on the floor, its in the head/manifold. A manifold leak is not so bad, Head gasket is not so good..worth doing a compression test and block test if you can. Also, change the oil again and put in at lest 10W-30 weight, your car is too old for 5/20 5/30...Hope that helps..Tim

I have a 2002 Ford crew cab with 5.4 triton .I have alot of oil on top of the intake .What are possible causes?

Most likely if it is only oil, it is most likely valve cover gaskets. If you see any antifreeze in the fluid then it could be the intake manifold gasket as well.

Where is the pcv valve located on a 1999 ford explorer? Is there a picture?

PCV BasicsPCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
All car engines have a PCV valve and it is located on top of the motor's valve cover. There is a vacuum line attached to it. It pulls out of the valve cover and if you shake it, you should hear a marble knocking inside it. If you shake it and don't hear anything, it's bad. It costs less than 5 bucks to replace.

Location
  • 4.0L is located in the valve cover near the brake booster

  • 5.0L is located behind the intake manifold (engine rear)

Driving down the road and then a lod bang under the hood

The item is a coolant outlet manifold. On the 2.7L the thermostat is located on the left lower side of the engine block, not related to this manifold. These manifolds are preformed plastics and metal. The housing when removed has a steel pipe that runs under the intake manifold slightly longer than your engine. It is replaced as an assembly. You don't have to removed the intake manifold to replace it. You can find a replacement from your local Dodge dealer, I am not aware of an aftermarket one but there might be one. The small metal valve on the top of it is just for bleeding the air out of the system after repair. I think there are 2 or 3 fasteners on the top and there is one in the back just below a hose connection. It pulls forward out from under the intake manifold. Hope this helps.
