What causes CEL to flash for 1/2 mile and then go off and then not start at all after rain but start when dry?

The check engine light flashes when there is a catalytic convert damaging advent happening , like for a sever misfire . When a vehicle has a misfire problem no combustion happens in that cylinder dumping raw fuel into the catalytic convert , were it burns causing the substrate to melt . To buy a new converter could cost up to a $1,000.00 bucks ! You don't say what make ,model an year vehicle you have , so I can't say what could be wrong ! Plug wires , coil's , distributor cap if yours has one . If you have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , You probably have a P0300 random misfire or a P0301 - to P0308 depending on the number of cylinders Check Engine Light On

My air bag light just started coming on recently what 's causing it to do that

It could be a failure of any one of the sensors, or of the entire control unit. The light itself will flash in a "code", with the number of times it flashes and then pauses. While I don't know what that "code" is, your mechanic will be able to tell you. There may be more information online if you start with the year/make/model and then try to figure out what the timing of the flashes and pause is. Sometimes the sensors can be very inexpensive, or the control unit can be bought from a salvage yard. WARNING! Working on an airbag system can be dangerous. ALWAYS remove the battery as it can trigger a bag to inflate.

The low-reverse band may need adjustment. The tranny oil pan needs to removed to do this & you might as well change the tranny filter while your there. Purchase a chilton manual or haynes manual. Both show the procedure & specs to do the job. Also check your tranny fluid level first. Warm the car up & take for a short drive first. Check in park & make sure the van is on a level surface. If it is low, add but do not over fill. Low fluid will cause this symtom also. Good luck!

Service engine soon light is flashing

Have the car scanned for the code's origin. This could mean that the engine will not work as well as it should, and could cause driveability isues.

A constant service engine soon light means that a hard code exists. A flashing light means that an intermittent code exists, but it could become a hard code very quickly.

First thing I'd do is have transmission fluid & filter change done and add only autopar transmission fluid to it, ATF4. Get them or you to make sure they lube all linkages (especially throttle valve cable area, well as some can stick over time & cause problems like your describing. Secondly, cycle your key from off to on, (not start, just to on) back off, back on, back off, back on & leave it on & count flashes from check engine light. It will be 2 digit number but small pause in between, for example: 3 quick flashes, then a pause, then 3 more, will be code 33. 2 quick flashes, pause, 5 more flashes is code 25. when you get 5 flashes, pause, 5 more, thats code 55 which means end of message. Get back to us with results for more info on what to do. These should point everybody in right direction for any trouble your having.

Factory alarm 97 grand prix

1st the system alarm is intagrated into the engine control electronics, it can not be disabled without poss damage to ther systems and controls, 2nd the most common cause of your issue is the sensor in the ignition lock cylinder being defective, this is the most common issue on all GM anti-theft systems.
