Lost only key to ignition switch want to know if it can be bypassed to get car home?

You will have to get a duplicate key from the dealer or have a locksmith make a key. If you attempt to bypass the ignition switch you will trigger the anti-theft function in the ECM and disable the vehicle. ALWAYS KEEP A SPARE KEY TO AVOID EXPENSIVE LOCKOUTS

My 1983 oldsmobile delta 88 runs til it heats up. Then it stalls out and won't start til it cools off. What could it be?

When it stalls out, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. A spark tester from the auto store doesn't cost much, you can carry it in your glove box. If the engine is hot, wear gloves.

With temp issues check the coolant temp sensor. How long since a tune-up, I'd also want to check fuel pressure. Check for applicable trouble codes. Your obd1, you should be able to check codes, yourself. You use a jumper wire between the A & B terminals at the data link connector, usually lower edge of dash between steering column and driver door. Turn key just till the dash lights come on, no further. The mil on the dash starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

Security system passlock

1st, did you use your original keys from your old column? If not the keys may be chipped in which case your truck wont start because of security system, MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR KEYS IN THE NEW COLUMN..

2nd, if you did use your keys (Ignition switch) in your new column, then you may need to do a relearn on your system;

Attempt to start, when it fails, leave the key in the run position for 11-12 minutes (til the security light goes off).

Turn off for 30-45 seconds.

Repeat first step.

On the 4th attempt of this process, it should fire up.

When anti theft light is blinking the car wont start. Can you bypass the anti theft device

On a 2003 Chevy Maibu the theft system light comes on and blinks when the system is triggered. The car will not start and the fuel pump cuts out. You must turn key to on and have all doors closed. Keep the key to on for 10 mins til theft light turns solid and then disappears. Then turn key to start and it should fire up.

Chevy g20 van wouldnt start/stalling

It sounds like it may be a problem with the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System). Chevy has been having problems with PATS since 1992 til current. Even if your key doesn't have a visible "chip" in it, it is possible that you have the PATS system. The newer PATS systems work by recognizing the exact cut of the key. In some cases extremely worn out keys have been known to stop working correctly with your ignition. In worst case scenarios the ignition cylinder itself, which contains the other chip for PATS, wears out so badly that, one time in ten or more your vehicle doesn't recognize the key and fails to start. The logic is this: If a thief tries to jimmy the ignition, the PATS system shuts down the ignition system for 20 minutes (30 on some vehicles). This is supposed to discourage the thief from trying again, while still letting you start your vehicle. There are procedures for bypassing the PATS system on many vehicles, but it is not for the faint of heart. The wiring work itself isn't bad, but there are catches: 1) you must have the vehicle running while you make the modification in most cases, and not shut it off during the bypass. 2) It's recommended you install a switch in the bypassed wire so you can disable your bypass in case your vehicle needs service. 3) if the vehicle dies during the bypass for some reason, you may have to visit the dealership and get a new ignition cylinder, and a quick reprogram of the PCM or ECU to get it going again. My '97 Tahoe overheated and now it won't start

Probably just low on coolant causing air pockets. Start it up with the radiator cap of and add coolant, then check to see if the water pump, intake gaskets, or coolant bypass connector on passenger front corner of the intake manifold is leaking.
