Need more information. does it feel like it wants to move or it does not want to do anything. is it a standard or automatic. all this is important. and automatic I would say check the trany fluid. if its a clutch. you could have a bad part. if it feels like it wants to go but wont. is the brakes on. does it make any bad noises when you give it gas. like something is grinding or slipping. all this information could help.

Is there a light in the gearstick area of peugot 407 if so where are the fuses and bulb located

there IS a light source--either a separate bulb or a light pipe to direct illumination to the gear shift indicator. No separate fuse. Where is it? The French are VERY creative in such maters and you will need the Owners manual or Service manual to find it. I DO NOT recommend you start taking things apart to find it.

Pickup starts great, goes into all gears but won't move. It's like it is still in nutural.

Assuming the pickup is an automatic, check the transmission fluid. The #1 cause for transmission slippage is lack of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

If the pickup is a standard shift, the pin that connects the shift to the transmission has likely broken. You would still be able to shift from the inside but the gears won't engage. A bad clutch is also a possibility but you would have noticed a burning smell prior to the clutch giving out.

Warning ligh triangle automatic gear box came on can only operate in 3rd gear and cant go over 60mph ,says contact peugot dealer emeidiatly

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
This can be caused by a faulty transmission solenoid that's why it's running on limp mode, this will require solenoid replacement.
Have you replaced the torque converter before? If not, then it's a faulty torque converter too. The torque converter controls the shifting of the vehicle that when it's faulty, it stays on a certain gear or won't shift at all. I suggest that you have both checked and replace the necessary parts.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Gear Linkage from the gear lever to the gearbox may have come off unless the lever goes directly into the top of the box
