How do i replace the ignition switch on a opel rekord 1989 model;

on most cars.
remove the screws, in the plastic collar.. (look under there see em'?)
now its all exposed.
next, remove the security screws, from the ignition switch assy, clamp. (some are head less.) having fun yet?
then on some cars the assembly (IGN) will not come off with steering wheel inplace, its obvious at that moment..

the FSM book covers this, in vivid details. (factory service manual)

It is doable if you have the right pullers.

Remove steering lock plate lock ring and plate(special puller)
Remove ignition key and tumbler
Remove T/S switch you should be able to get to top brng
Disengage tilt wheel spring
Take apart dimmer switch assy ( remember how it goes)
Remove 4 bolts connecting collar to steering shaft

NEED TO HOTWIRE A 1983 RAMPAGE

You'll still need to unlock the steering wheel and shift lever. This can only be done with the key or by breaking the collar for the keyswitch. Either it is very difficult, and best left to the hands of a proffesional.

How do i change the ignition on a 1992 Chevrolet truck?

you need to remove the steering wheel (you will likely need a steering wheel puller) and the wheel lock collar (snap ring holds it in place) then remove the signal switch plate.....on the left side of the steering shaft there is a single screw remove it and the ignition switch will slide out(you may need to rotate the switch to the run position.)
hope this helps......Thanks for choosing FIX YA!
