If you have the factory engine just read the 8th digit in the VIN# it will give you your engine size. VIN# L,M,K are 5.7L engines VIN #H is a 5.0L engine. Also under the hood is the emission decal which has your engine size.

Where do i find the id number on a chevy block block

All engines are stamped with an engine ID code, consisting of assembly plant code, production date and suffix code. V8 codes are stamped on a pad just forward of the right side (passenger) cylinder head. 6 cylinder engines are stamped on the passenger side of the block behind the distributor.

I have a chevy 350 4 bolt main with suffix code ce4329 can anyone tell. Me what year, and horespower this engine came with.

I went google and typed in-- 350 chev engine suffix number ce 4329 and found a page chev-camero.com>chevy-camaro
listed is a ceu--1980--350--190 hp
these 4 bolt main blocks were sold here as bedford truck engines ( 5 ton trucks) as they had a slightly longer stroke which gave a better torque rating for heavy loads
They were popular as street engines, because they gave better power bands that could only be got by regrinding the crank to gain more cubic inches( longer stroke ) a 350 engine and adding special head gaskets for the piston protrusion above the block
Along with good cams , the 4 bolt main negated the need for expensive main modification to handle the extra power
anyway go to that site and navigate around and you may find the information you want

How do I tell the engine size of my 1978 chev truck

I picture would help greatly . Look at the valve covers . If it has 2 bolts on bottom and 2 bollts on top " 4 total " holding the valve cover on then it is a small block . Now if it has 4 bolts running along the bottom of the valve cover and 3 along the top " 7 total " then it is a Big Block .... Now that will help you pick the " family" of the engine but you still want to know the displacement " Cubic Inches " so here we go . As long as the engine block has never been " Decked " there will be a suffix code that can be decoded that will tell you what the engine came from , what the displacement is , as well as horse power ratings when new. The suffix code is located on a small square pad sitting directly in front of the passenger side head ' Usually hidden behind the alternator " Look at the pictures below to show you location ... At the end of the number there should be 3 letters , those are the suffix code . You can google the letters and see what turns up . A website known as nasty z28 has some really good info . You may need a flashlight , and some good cleaner to get a good look at the number down in behind there ........ Now if the truck has a big block , The number can be in one of two different locations , The first is the same as the small block . However i have also seen mid seventies big chevys that had a pad directly center , just above the timing cover and below the front of the intake that has the suffix code on it there ... If you are having trouble finding the code online and breaking down what it is , Just respond here with the numbers and letters and i will decode it for you .

I would like to identify a block # of 1m0525 5vp.

from what i find , the format of the number is incorrect. Engine ID Code Example: V0107CLJ i can find meanings of the "m0525" but nothing on the first 1. and the suffix code is 3 letters. so from what i worked out, the "m" would be from the mexico plant. and the "0525" would be the engine build date, may 25th, no year stamp. the "5vp" is what's got me. there's only 4 suffix codes i found that start with numbers and none are 5vp. the closest i found on just the "vp" without the "5" would be a "vr" listed as a 350 1969 with 4 barrel carb out of a c-20 or c-30. the closest i could find for "5vp" would be "suf" and there were 2. both listed as 305's 1984. one out of a monte carlo and one out of a firebird.
