Either buy or check with your local library for a service manual by Haynes (1st choice) or Chilton so you have all the info you need for timing belt replacement. If you fail to get timing marks properly lined up, you may severely damage your engine; this is sure nothing to guess at.

My suggestion re. service manuals still applies but I am glad to read that you are replacing a belt that isn't critical to the engine's operation.

I have a 2001 Cavalier Coupe, I am having problems with the air condition. Freon was added, that evening the air condition started to work. The next day, I turned on the air condition, no cold air. I was...

There is a power distrobution box under the hood containing relays and a few heavy duty fuses.
I'd take the cover off and find the A/C relay usually depicted in the diagram inside the cover.
Start the car, turn the A/C switch on and then under hood at A/C relay give it a light tap with the handle of a screwdriver to see if compressor clutch on compressor "kicks on".
Relay can even be pulled out and put back in to make a better connection.
I'm betting the problem is that relay...or dirty contacts.

Hope this helps...

I have had to replace my timing belt 4 times within the last 3 to 4 years is that common. To the point it was under warrenty twice when it had to be taken back into the shop. i drive a 2001 chevy cavalier

no thats not common at all, unless your driving 75k miles a year or more, what ever dealer or mechanic did the work before ,,, take it back to them and ask why this keeps happening, its defiantly not normal
