Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

My car will not start, jumper cables did not work, help me! :)

I tried jumper cables, and it still wont start. When i tried to start it, first it made a quiet sputter/farty sound, and then nothing. I have no power to the lights, locks or horn. No gauges register, no nothing. :( I think it may be the battery - when i tried to start it the first time, i saw the alarm lights were flashing (no horn though) when i got out. i just dont know.

Please help me!!! I just spent $400 to replace my broken water pump, all i can hope is that this might be a frugal fix.

Thank you! :)

1986 Ford F350 wont start

Try following the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter solenoid (not sure if you have an inner fender-mounted solenoid or a starter-mounted one. Take one lead of a pair of jumper cables and connect one end to the solenoid terminal with the cable from the battery, and take the other end of that same jumper cable lead and momentarily connect it to the other large terminal on the starter solenoid. If the starter engages when you do this, replace the starter solenoid. If the engine doesn't try to crank when you do this, you probably have a bad starter. Good luck.

Not getting any power to my interior components but all the fuses are good under the hood. The engine cranks but wont start.

Have you checked the battery? How old is tge battery in the car? Do your headlights or ANYTHING work? What happens when you try to start the car - does it make any sounds (like a click click click noise?)or just nothing? Please post follow up. If you have a set of jumper cables you can at least check by hooking up the jumper cable to a running car - if your interior lighys, etc work with the vehicle on jumper cables and/or will start now you need to check tge battery

Every month or so it wont start, is slow starting most of the time. This morning tried jumping it and would turn over but not start, without the jumper cables on it just clicks

JUST CLICKING, MEANS LOW VOLTAGE AT THE STARTER. JUMPER CABLES ARE TRICKY.
IF THE WIRES INSIDE ARE TO SMALL, NO GOOD. JUMPER CABLES NEED TO HAVE STRONG CLAMPS & SHOULD BE MADE WITH AT LEAST # 4 BATTERY CABLE, ANYTHING SMALLER WON'T CARRY ENOUGH AMPS TO DO THE JOB. THE OTHER CAR NEEDS TO BE RUNNING AT HIGH IDLE {2000 RPM }. WAIT 5 MINUTES THEN TRY TO START THE LOW BATTERY CAR.

Try setting the alarm off the disabling it.That works some times. If that dont work lock the doors and using the key unlock passengers side door with the key and then try starting it.I hope this helps you.Have a great day.
