Engine missing out, spitting and sputtering

I have a 05 harley softail deluxe ive only had it about 3 weeks, it had sad in the previous owners garage for a year, it only had 4900 miles on it when i bought it, ive put about 300 on it, it ran great for awhile, now its starting to miss out and spit and sputter and backfires, mainly misses out when i accelerate at low speed or deccelerate from road speed, never when its idling. i replaces the spark plugs put a new battery in it, that didnt help, what would the next option be fuel filter? crankshaft position sensor? re map the fueling?

The problem you describe indicates a air/fuel ratio problem so I would be looking at any hoses that may have perished, MAP/MAF sensors and coil problems. If it is possible then get a fault code reading as it will save money from "guess" repairing

Somewhere along the the line you may have a fuel blockage or a good dose of water in your fuel tank.Check the water in tank 1st.Add 1 litre of metholated spirits to every 20 litres of fuel. This will allow the water to break down and be burnt through the motor over time.Do this twice. If this does not work, there may be a glob of **** in the fuel tank that blocks the pickup. If this is the problem, the tank needs to be taken out and cleaned.I hope this is a start to get you back on the road.

good advice is to always run the fault codes when the engine is playing up. After all that is what they are there for. They save so much money and frustration. So run the fault codes and fix the faulty sensor .

Spits and sputters until warm

TUNE-UP, SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, AIR & FUEL FILTERS, FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER IN TANK, ALSO REPLACE PCV VALVE, & MOST IMPORTANT, REPLACE EGR VALVE, IT GETS TOTALLY CLOGED UP, YOUR ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR THAT. I HAVE A GNC 2500, 3/4 TON. SEEN IT ALL. CHANGE YOUR DISTRIBUTOR CAP & ROTOR ALSO. JUST DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!

When u push on the gas it spits and sputters, it ran out of gas like 2 weeks ago and yes sometimes i do let it run low on gas. It spits and sputters when i turn a corner or go up a hill

Could be a clogged fuel filter, and or dirty fuel injectors. Try running some strong injector cleaner through it. It may take 2 or 3 times before it cleans the injectors out fully.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

After driving about 3 to 5 mile when there has been alot of rain the engine starts running real rough spitting and sputtering--if you floor it it takes off as long as you keep it floored--doesn`t stall...

Engine light could be from the spitting and sputtering, sounds to me like maybe bad spark plug wires, possible an ecm issue, what kinda code is it giving you when the engine light comes on?
