Question about 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

1 Answer

Lincoln mark viii seat lock

Lincoln mark viii 93 seat backrest does not lock when in normal seating position, in fact both seats. I can see a lever that is moving toward a locking mechanism, but it just slides away instead of falling into the locked position when the seat moves forward. Is there some kind of spring somewhere? do I have to remove the seat cusion to get access and fix it?
Thanks and regards, Remo from Switzerland

On the bottom side of the seat back is a seam it is held together by locking plastic strips that you can pry apart with a screw driver or trim tool. from there you can roll up seat cover. velcro strip hold parts of it to the foam. the seat bottom has plastic strips that snap to the underside of the seat frame. you can remove them the same way. as for the recliner issue you wont knnow till you get in there. Im not sure about the spring but something could have fallen in there preventing it from locking into place

I have a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. The button that you have to push in on the gear shift lever is frozen and we can't get it out of park. Need ideas on what causes this. Hate to take it into a dealer and pay...

make sure brake lights work, if they dont the switch may be bad, not allowing you to pull out of park. check fuses also. if the seat motor runs, check if the cable has come loose.

Hai i would like to know how to fold the back car seat to increase cargo space in hyundai santa fe 2003

The rear seats have a pull strap located between the bottom cushion and the backrest of the rear seats used to disengage a lock to lift up the bottom cushion. The pull straps will only stick out an inch or so, or they might have fallen down between the seats and then you wont see them. Before you can lower the backrest of the rear seats, the bottom cushions have to be lifted up and forward out of the way so that the backrest may lie down flat. If your pull straps are not visible between the bottom cushion and the backrest, you may have to stick your hand between the cushions and feel for the straps. Once you find the straps, pull upward on the while lifting on the bottom cushion where the pull strap is located and the seat should tilt forward. Once you have manged to do this, the lever for the backrest is located on the top of the backrest. Just slide the lever and tilt the backrest to the desired position.

How to fold down back seat

There should be a loop between the seat and backrest, pull that and the seat will pull toward the front seats. After that, pull the lever located at the outside of the backrest. This lever is on the outside of the seat by the door-side of the seat. Pull that up and allow the backrest will fold down and the headrest will pivot back and your seat is folded down.
