Question about 2009 Hyundai Sonata
Sounds like the blend door actuator on the driver side is not functioning properly. either the door hinge is broken or the actuator motor has stopped functioning properly.

Your problem is that your vent is opening only on one side . If you have cable controls you might have a broken cable if your vent changes by vacuum control then the vacuum module is broken . But on most of the newer cars they have and electrical control and they will fail, if you hear popping sound then your vent is not working. You will need to pull the glove box out and the control boxes should be looking you in the face. There should about three of them find the one that's not working by changing your dash settings and watching which one is not working . The only other thing that I can think of is your tubing from your control box is off or has a hole in it and not letting the air mass flow to your side of the car. I hope this helps . Good luck and let me know what happens ..

One of your Actuators inside the dash that control the A/C Heat doors/ Baffles that open or close, to either give you hot or cold air has failed. Find and replace the failed Actuator and it should work fine.

SOURCE: '06 Sonata only blows cold
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You want to make sure all your vents are open and temperature control is set right. There may be something blocking the air from that side. It is typically warmer in that area because of the engine heat. Is the cool air on the passenger side normal cool or is it warmer then usual? On the driver side, is it hot air or just warm? Have you checked your freon level?

you have moisture in the system this causes your expancion valve to freeze up an stop working, thats why it works for sort time and when it de-freezes stars working again. you need to do a EVAC & RECHARGE with a good AC service equipment, specially attention to pull vacumm por at least 20minutes so you get all moisture out of the system.

Testimonial: "Thank you Magoly, its working Thank you very much."
Chances are you have a pretty fast freon leak, and the passenger side will be blowing warm within a few days. I have the same thing happen on a couple of my GM cars, except my leak is very slow; warm driver's side, cold passenger side.
You can try and top off the freon again, but I suspect you're going to have to take it to a shop to find the leak and get it fixed. Plan on spending some big dollars for the repair.
