2003ford escape idles rough and dies when i try to give it gas.changed spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, mass air sensor and 02 sensor.can you help?

I did not see regular air filter on the list but you probably checked it. Those symptoms sound like they could be PCV valve related, I assume your car has one, my Ford does. Locate the PCV valve on the engine manifold, it will be coming out of the crankcase with a hose attached. Remove the hose by opening the quick connector, remove the PCV valve, research it for your car, some pull right out, some twist either clockwise or counter clockwise, I think yours is counter. Wipe it off and shake it around, you want to hear a ball rattle freely, if you don't, or cant remember the last time it was replaced, get a new one. They are between $15-$20 most places and easy to fix. Next option, have the cars OBD II connector checked for codes. The computer stores trouble codes that can be checked here, you can purchase a code reader, but its easier to have it checked if you are not sure what I am talking about. It could be a bad coil, a bad distributer or similar, again I don't know which your car has. Good luck!!

First, if check engine light on use scan tool to pull codes (if no access to scan tool, many shops offer free of low cost check engine light diagnostics) This may help in solving your problem-look for Throttle position sensor codes P1021, P1022, P1023. adjust/replace as needed. Also look for P0401, P0406 codes as this could relate to a faulty E.G.R. valve. If stuck open, internal vacuum leak would cause rough idle/stall condition. Other related codes are: P0171/P0174 which indicate a vacuum leak on the engine. This is a common problem on the Ford/Mazda V-6 engines. If no codes, try visual inspection of vacuum lines on engine, look for cracking or chaffing, disconnected lines. With engine running at idle, listen for hissing noise around engine--indicates vacuum leak. Also look for collapsed vacuum lines on main lines rear center top of engine to drivers side intake manifold/throttle body. Replace damaged lines. I hope this helps as I based this on your problem description/information.

Have you checked the carburettor? could be vacuum pipes to carb. check gas fillter?

clean out ur throttle body, just follow the hose from the air filter to the throttle body. Need 2 people to do this. Don't remove the hose completely from the throttle body. Just enuff to be able to spray ur intake cleaner into the throttle body. Do this especially if its worse when the motor is hot, as this would confirm the problem.

sounds like you done allot to this car. did you clean your gas tank? Reason i say this there are times you get bad gas that water with it. and it sounds like you got water in your tank. need to get it out. Try this get some rubbing alcohol and poor it in your tank. It won't hurt it. It will soak up the water that's in your tank. try this and let me know how it goes.

White smoke and foam in the gas tank indicates antifreeze leaking into the engine somewhere. Do you smell antifreeze? You may have an engine seal leaking, most likely head gasket. It may be affecting the various engine sensors.

2000 gmc starts but then idles rough then dies


I had to replace the mass air flow sensor. $ 150. the engine would shut off when driving too.changed fuel filter only worked for a day. The sensor is just after air filter.

The fuel pump pumps but on start up it dies


Flel regulator will only affect max fuel pressure only will not cause it to not start. try replacing fuel filter first if still does not get fuel then you need to see if it is fuel related or if you have a spark at the spark plugs, pull off a spark plug boot and put screw driver in it hold 1/4 inch away from bare metal and crank engine if you get a spark then it's fuel relateed if no fuel it can be the crank shaft sensor or the cam shaft sensor. let me know if it has fire.

check all spark plugs and wires also check mass air flow senser located on intake tube if all is still in good working condition check the throttle position sensor if that is good then it may be your fuel pump please update when possable.

1999 Ford Taurus mechanical problem


Hello,
your problem appears to be the idle control motor located on the air intake manifold it is a small motor that goes bad quite often. Other items that can cause this is a bad /clogged air filter or a tune up (spark plugs and wires), or clogged fuel injectors. to clean the injectors you can buy a container of fuel system cleaner and pour it into the gas tank and as you drive it cleans the system.

Once the fuel system is cleaned via a tankful of cleaner & gas then the idle controller motor would be next on the list to be replaced.
