There are multiple reasons for this: possible broken radiator, radiator hose, water pump, freeze out plug. If you could supply me with more specific info, front of engine, passenger side of engine (water pump) rear of engine, i'll be happy to help you diagnose this problem.

Depends how fast, and where its coming from, if its from a pipe/hose it need replacing.. if its from the radiator and its not leaking to fast you could try something like rad weld as a temporary measure, unless you can pick a second hand one from a breakers yard, hope this helps

How do you flush?

The cooling system?
Loosen the bottom rubber radiator hose and let the coolant run out.

Buy a can of coolant system flush. Reconnect the bottom radiator hose, pour the can of coolant flush in and top up with plain water. Drive the car for about 10 minutes until the engine is warm.

Then remove the bottom radiator hose and let the water run out.
Reconnect the bottom hose and fill the cooling system with coolant/water mix. Run the engine for 5 minutes and then check the coolant level

How do I fix a coolant leak

Find leak soon, low coolant will kill a diesel. Keep coolant level correct. Inspect very carefully with a bright flashlight. I like the new Led lights. Look for wet areas radiator hoses, heater hoses water (coolant) pump and Heater coil inside. Do you have any bubbling in the coolant fill tank when engine is running? If so you probably have a Head Gasket failure.

Looks like a leak at the bottom of engine

It is likely the water pump is leaking and the coolant is running back under the engine. Put you finger under the bottom of the water pump near the front where the shaft comes out, if it comes back wet with coolant the pump is leaking.

1989 Chevy S10 Blazer 4.3L V6 Automatic: Massive coolant leak occurred after letting truck sit for about 30 minutes after running it for around 1 hour. Coolant steadily flowed from what appears to be on...

Check the bottom side of the water pump for wetness, as well as the lower radiator hose. The water pump if leaking, will run the coolant down the front of the motor, and can appear to be coming from the top of the oil pan. It is nearly impossible for the top of the oil pan to leak coolant.

Engine over heated stalled out and will not start

FIRST OF ALL CHECK ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL IF LOW YOU NEED ADD MORE COOLANT CHECK FOR LEAKING TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES, CHECK RADIATOR FOR LEAKS. IF YOU DID NOT LOSE MUCH COOLANT THERMOSTAT COULD BE STUCK CLOSED.WHEN ADD COOLANT CRANK VECHICLE AGAIN CHECK BOTH RADIATOR HOSES THEY BOTH SHOULD BE HOT. IF TOP RADIATOR HOSE GOING TO ENGINE BLOCK COLD AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE COLD WARM THE THERMOSTAT IS STUCK CLOSED. IF ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE SITTING IN LONG TRAFFIC LINE YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR.IT CONTROLS COOLANT FAN AT SET TEMPERATURE.IF COOLANTS FAN NOT RUNNING WHEN OVERHEATING.EITHER COOLANT FAN FUSE RELAY FAULTY OR FAN MOTOR DEFECTIVE OR FAN MOTOR WIRING CONNECTOR HAVE BROKE WIRES.IF COOLANT FAN IS RUNNING WHILE ENGINE OVERHEATING CHECK CRANK OIL AT OIL DIP STICK OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE BLOWED HEAD GASKET. WARNING DONT KEEP DRIVING VECHICLE WHEN ENGINE OVERHEATING YOU WILL CAUSE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DAMAGE.

My service engine soon light came on yesterday and minutes before that my low coolant light came on & when the service engine light came on it felt like it was misfiring for a moment but it runs fine...

First, add coolant to your reservoir and radiator if needed. (Should turn "Low Coolant" light off) Second, go to Advanced Auto, ask for a OBD II meter to clear the "Service Engine Soon" light (Their free to use). Third, might have water in your gas tank. Get some "HEET" and put it in your gas tank. Until the water is gone, you might have to clear the light more than once.

2000 chevy malibu keeps overheating. wont hold coolant. coolant boils out through overflow. and heater has stopped working

hi this could be caused by a couple of things, thermostat not opening is one of the main one, fan heater switch on the radiator is another, and obviously water leak is another, the first one thermostat, can replaced relatively cheaply, for a few bucks, you could do it yourself if you have the correct tools, to find out if it is thermostat, fill water first, run motor till it starts to get hot, feel the hoses on either side of the radiator ( top and bottom hoses be careful not to burn yourself in the process) if one is very hot, and the other is warm to cold, that will be the thermostat, second, the radiator fan switch, fill water, run motor, watch temp Gage, if by the time it has reached over half way on the temp Gage and the rad fan has still not cut in then this is normally a sign the switch on the radiator is u/s and needs replacing ( check fuse for fan to and relay this will also stop fan from working ) also to check for leaks, fill water, ( try not to spill any ) then if available a large cloth or sheet under car, run engine ( making sure first the other items have been checked ) and just observe for dripping water hope this helps

Coolant in the block, it is either head gasket or water pump. I think it is the water pump , how far down do you have to go to get at the water pump on a 2.7litre

I dont know how you learnt about engines but if some ones been telling you about it then there up the creek,as
COOLANT has to be in the block and in the heads and in the heater as its a water cooled engine. BUT if you mean the water is in were the oil is then you have got a problem like either a cracked head/or a blown head gasket/ a cracked block /or just a lnlet manifold water jacket gasket or cracked , But tell me has the engine overheated in the past 4 days of driving/has the engine lost a lot of coolant/has the engine been running rough??????????????? if yes to any of these then changing the water pump isent going to do anything for you except waste your money as water pumps have to have a bad groaning noise and loss of water running out of the front of engine going or not .
BUT wont put water in the oil ..
So let me know what the answers are as soon as poss so we can see if we can fix your car. Ron
