Tell me how do you know that all speed sensors are good?
The ABS brake system uses 3 wheel speed sensors. A sensor is mounted to each front hub/bearings. The third sensor is mounted on top of the rear axle differential housing.
OPERATION The Wheel Speed Sensor consists of a magnet surrounded by windings from a single strand of wire. The sensor sends a small AC signal to the CAB. This signal is generated by magnetic induction. The magnetic induction is created when a toothed sensor ring (exciter ring or tone wheel) passes the stationary magnetic WSS.

the repair disk I looked at shows three but that's not important. Did you put the vehicle on jack stands and test the VSS with a volt meter? Set meter to the volts scale, 10 volts maximum. Insert a flying lead between the two wire connections. Flying leads have extensions that plug into the female side and the opposite male side, with some bare metal exposed, so you can probe both wire sides with the jack connected. Place one lead from the multimeter onto one flying lead, and the other probe to the other flying lead. Have an assistant turn the ignition key to the "On" position. Look at the voltage reading on the gauge. Normal voltage will be between +5 or +12 volts, depending upon the ABS specifications. Refer to your owner's manual for the exact number. With the key still on, have your assistant rotate the wheel hub. If you see a voltage change, the wheel speed sensor functions properly. If the voltage does not change you have a defective sensor.

SOURCE: P0501 code on 2004 dodge

Causes A P0501 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:

  • The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not reading (functioning) properly
  • There is a broken/frayed wire leading to the vehicle speed sensor
  • The vehicle's PCM is not correctly configured for the actual tire size on the vehicle
Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
Next, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the speed sensor. The location of the sensor depends on your vehicle. The sensor could be on the rear axle, transmission, or perhaps the wheel hub (brake) assembly.
If the wiring and connectors are OK, then check the voltage at the speed sensor. Again, the exact procedure wil depend on your make and model of vehicle.
If everything looks OK, replace the sensor.

2005 Hyundai santa fee problems with code 0501 abs lights and brake disappeared. When i turn ignition on there no communication with diagnostic computer all read zero cause check engine light code 0501

i dont envy your job if its not a speed sensor replacement. if it is a broken wire you are going to have to take apart the entire wire harness looking for it.

I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 with a diesel. i changed both speed sensors and my speedo dont work and my abs, light and brake light is on as well, when they run a code scanned no codes come up for the

NO code ? the first thing is to make sure all the fuse are good, the next thing is to connect a scan tool and check for readings to speed sensors.

Some of these use the wheel speed sensors to control the speedo and abs , the speed sensors in the transmission are used to control gear shifting, make sure the wheel sensors are working, the most common problems are the wiring to the rear sensor and the rear sensor itself, check on the rear end on the top and make sure connection is good and maybe replace that sensor and see what happens, i have run into this problem a few time but some were diffrent. one was a bad rear speed sensor another one was the cluster and the last was the abs module.

I would start with checking all the fuses first, then move on to replacing the rear speed sensor located on the rear top of the diffrential . good day.

1999 4x4 dodge ram abs light &brake light has been on about a week. brake fluid &brakes are good. any suggestions

If you lose the speedometer, replace the rear differential speed sensor on top. If the speedo is ok, then it's your ABS pump/solenoid unit in the engine compartment left rear side. Most of the 99's have only the rear ABS, not front so don't look at the front brakes for the issue.
