Total millage is not recorded

Sounds like the logic is going out. You could try to reset it. Plug the cluster fuse. Look in your manual, you may have more than one to pull. Leave them out for a minute. If it doesn't work, your looking at replacing the cluster. Call a dealer for warranty and recall info.

I think I have triggered an alarm in my 1988 Nissan 300 ZX and would like to know if anyone knows what it is? There is a small red light now flashing on my dashboard next to my stereo- (It never used

If you changed fuses maybe it's just come back on , if the alarm isn't sounding I doubt that's it , red flashing led's on the dashboard usually are an indicator that there is an alarm but not necessarily mean that it's been triggered

Two of my smoke alarms went off (no fire/smoke in or near house), one has a green light blinking and one has a solid green light, which need a new battery/reset?

The constant green LED means the alarm has AC power.
A flashing green light every 2 seconds without an audible alert means the unit recently sounded ( was the one activated ) and is now in latching mode to let you know that it was the unit that detected the problem. To clear the latching mode hold down the test button for 5 seconds.
Red LED flashing once per minute means that the back-up battery is connected and functioning.
Red light flashing constantly during alarm means that it is the unit that initiated the alarm siren.

Petrol per km

Note the odometer reading. Fill the tank completely. Drive for 500-2000 km, refilling the tank as necessary, and recording exactly how much fuel is required each time to refill. At the end of the test, refill the tank one last time - recording how much fuel it required - and note the odometer reading again.

Add up all the fuel used in the entire test, NOT including the first fillup but INCLUDING the last one. The result is the fuel consumed during this test.

Subtract your starting odometer reading from your ending odometer reading. The result is the exact number of km traveled during this test.

Divide the number of km by the number of liters (km/l) to get your average fuel efficiency.

Service required light flashes 5 times even when the other lights

It looks like your Oil Changhe Reminder needs reset... I get many calls a week for this procedure...
This is really easy! Follow these directions:

Turn the key ON

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "ODO" and the total mileage traveled. If it is on "Trip A" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "ODO", and the total miles traveled.

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it in.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON

Observe the Odometer display. The total mileage traveled will disappear, and you will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, the total mileage traveled will redisplay.

Release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.

Hope this helps!
This is an addition to the reset procedure, I apologize for not mentioning it:

You do NOT START the vehicle at any time during the reset procedure.
If the engine starts, the procedure will not reset.

If you do NOT see the dashes, followed by the 5 zeros, start the entire procedure again, but start with the odometer set to TRIP "A". Some vehicles use Trip A instead of the ODO.

You do NOT START the vehicle at any time during the reset procedure.
If the engine starts, the procedure will not reset.
