MNfisherman is spot on! The only other things that I've had to cause this and made me scratch my head for a long time is corrosion inside the insullation of the battery wires where not enough current was getting through to the solenoid. Good luck.

This could be 3 things wrong:

1. Solenoid is shot
2. Battery wires are not in good contact. They may be tight but still not metal on metal contact
3. Dead battery

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus. My wife left the radio running with the ignition off for a short while. Now the car won't turn over, won't start, won't jump. There is one click when trying to s

The click you are hearing is most likely the start slenoid making contact, however you should short the large wires @ the solenoid to make certain the starter still doesn't run, if so try tapping the starter with a hammer to shift the comutator a litle and try to start. Even if it now starts the starter will continue to give you problems so the proper fix is change the starter

Ford taurus 2001 car start but once the car is cut off it won't start up again until it cools off the car is not running hot.

After you kill it, when you try to start it back up, does the starter turn the motor? Or is it froze up (will not turn over)?

My ford taurus doesnt turn on. Lights, stereo dashboard lights all turn on except the engine it sounds like it wants to turn on but it doesnt I dont know what can be wrong with the car??

If the starter is clicking, or the engine is turning over slowly, try replacing the battery or try getting a jump to see if you can get the engine to start.

If the engine is turning over, but won't start, it sounds like you may have a bad timing belt or your timing tensioner or idler has gone out.

1996 ford taurus wont start

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

First, be sure that the battery has a good charge for if it's weak there won't be enough power for the starter to kick the flywheel. Second is, if the battery is fully charge and it still won't kick, the starter itself can be faulty. If that's the case, it will surely need replacement.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
