Question about Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

I am looking for the order of relays and what there function is from left to right facing the front of the 1994 buick lesabre. All of the relays are the same part number except two of them and they are next to one another with two fuse blocks just above. These are all under the hood up against the firewall.

I know where the relays are, I want to know what function for the location of the relays from left to right. I would like to swap alike part numbered relays to solve fuel pump relay problem. There are 8 or 9 relays side by side and I would like to know there functions so I can decide which relays to swap. The relays are under the plastic cover.

  • sgamble6429 Jun 23, 2009

I was able to swap all like relays but this did help my initial problem of fuel pump not running properly. When I start the car it will run for maybe 4 seconds then go into a mode that will eventially leading to the engine dying. The service ligtht is on now, how do you look for service codes on this car? Add what is the approximate cost in replacing fuel pump in the tank?

I am so sorry... I stand corrected the relays we are looking for

should be at the passenger compartment relay centre, behind right side of dash.
I am unable to get any diagrams to show you. I did look at the pumpand there are showing a price between 89.00- 189.00 I suspect that the tank maybe have to be dropped not unless you can access under the back seat through the floorboard. May I ask if you are going to do this?

It might sound strange but I am going to do this for a guy I met at autozone yesterday. On his toyota camary.

I dont know if you can get the car to autozone. They will scan it for free. I suspect you have a 1 cylinder lean error because the fuel is not strong enough. I was sure there was somethng that you can do to could the flashing lights on the dash to get the error codes. let me investigate and get back to you

Where is the reset button on the 94 buick lesaber

We are assuming that you are talking about Fuel Pump Relay; so, take the plastic cover off the Power Distribution Center. There may be a plastic tab retaining the cover, depending on the model LeSabre you have. With the cover removed, stand before the power distribution center so that the square relays within it visually appear horizontal.

Locate the fuel pump relay in the lineup of relays within the power distribution center. If you're looking at the relays from the correct position, you should see two horizontal rows of five. Count from the right over to the third relay in the top row. This is your LeSabre's rear defogger relay; directly below it is the fuel pump relay. Disconnected and connected again to electrical reset it.

Good luck.

Spark plug firing order

The firing order for this vehicle is 1-6-5-4-3-2. When you are standing at the front of the car looking under the hood, the plug in the left corner of the engine is firing in cylinder 1, as you move to the right you see cylinder 3 and 5. On the other side engine (the side facing the firewall) going left to right is 2 4 and 6. Remember, this is what you see standing in front of the car, not the engine. If you want to stand in front of the engine you will have to be standing at the passenger side fender!

Once you know this, it is easy to see the cross pattern in which the engine fires. Hope this helps you, cheers!
