Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

SOURCE: what is meaning p1529 on my elantra

P1529 means the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp. All I can tell you based on this information is that the TCM has seen something abnormal. To find out what abnormal condition the TCM saw, you'd need to retrieve the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) from the TCM. The most frequent culprit is either the input or output speed sensor, but there's no way to know whether they may be the issue without the TCM DTCs

Transmission is acting up,went to autozone and it shows 2 codes p1529 and p720 please explain ? thanks Ralph

P0720 almost always points to a problem with the output speed sensor itself. The sensor is located on the top of the transmission near the rear. It's held in place with one 10mm bolt. You may be able to access with a long extension and a 10mm swivel-socket. If not, you'll need to remove the air box. You'll find the sensor semi-hiding under the wiring harness that runs across the rear portion of the top of the transmission.

P1529 is simply an indicator that the transmission control module (TCM) requested the engine control module (ECM) to turn on the check engine lamp.
Let me know if this helps or if you need mor help.

I get a ''P1529'' error code, on our 2001 Hyundai Elantra, but cannot find what it is. Ron Hagler

this means that you have a fault code present in the Transmission control module (TCM), you need to have that module tested, the P1529 is just the engine computer telling you this code is present. here is the book difinition

When driving the car cold about 10 minutes later the car will kick meduim hard , and the engine light will come on, and then it will be stuck in 3rd gear, but it only does it when the enginge light is on. codes p0720 and p1529 are what I got with the obd2 reader. the P0720 is for the output shaft speed sensor. The sensor was replaced and the computer was reset with the obd2 code reader, but the engine light came back on and I got the same codes, also car kick the same way, What can I do to fix the problem.

P0715 is the imput speed sensor is open or shorted. The P1529 is the transmission control module(computer) requsting the check engine light to turn on. These sensors are prone to going bad.
