Bad front end noise on 98 ford escort, sounds like something breaking or is broken and is rubbing against something else. was able to drive it slowly 10 miles to the station where I work so I could leave...

Hi my name is Tom and I am here to help you.

Yes, something is broken on your front end. I am going to guess that it is a broken strut or shock. As you drive the broken strut or shock will cause the car to "bottom out" sounding like someone hit the car with a baseball bat.

I would not wait long or drive your car until you or someone check the true nature of the problem. If you give me more info I can be more specific. Either way I trust I was of some help with your problem.

I need to fit rear shocks to my mk7 escort how do i do it

jack the car up and put it on axle stands remove the bolt at bottom of shock, remove the nut at top of shock then remove from car, use spring compressor to compress coil spring then remove top nut and mounting and spring, re-fit parts removed to new shock in reverse order then re-fit to car

The rear of the car is very squeaky and is easy to push down

Change the rear struts first,That should repair your issue. You may wanna consider replacing the springs as well.

My expedition is making a clicking sound from the area of the right rear wheel well. sounds like a solenoid switch clicking on and off. noise stops when making a left turn

Do you have air suspension? If so, it could be a relay clicking. Otherwise I would recommend having a chassis lube job done on axle and bearings. Also make sure tire is not rubbing on strut/shock tower. Some of these have a plastic guard on the shock/strut tower that like to vibrate as well.

Tire size & Suspension confusion:

31x10.50r15s will rub the front fender while turning if you dont install either a suspension or body lift. Adding a leaf spring to the rear will not neccessarily raise the vehicle you must add a block to the spring seat to raise the height. However you can use 30x9.50r15 without any modification. Hope that answers your question.

Car trouble

I would start here first....

The "inertia switch" which shuts off fuel to the engine in the event of a collision or jolt on a 1991 through 1996 models, as well as on 1998 coupes, is located in the rear of the vehicle, near the right (passenger's side) strut tower. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-sided trim panel. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-side trim panel. On hatchback and wagon models, there may be an access door secured by clips. On some models you may need to remove the lower quarter trim panel on the right side, however it is easier to cut an access hole directly above the switch.
