i have done 120000 mile. where can i find (MAF) sensor ? if it work i will know you

  • jaybyrdn91 May 11, 2010

MAF sensor located in intake tube.

  • jaybyrdn91 May 11, 2010

Before changing fuel pump... try cleaning your Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) sensor. Sometimes this sensor will become dirty and it can cause the sensor to send a signal back to the ECM that states it is too lean. Use brake clean and spray inside the sensor. Use compressed air (very slight pressure) after you spray the brake clean on it. Fuel pumps are very costly. Before I would spend the money on one I would hook a fuel pressure guage on and monitor the fuel pressure if cleaning the MAF sensor doesn't work. Also... check for vacuum leaks. Vacuum leaks downstream of the MAF sensor cause a lean condition inside the combustion chamber resulting in the P0171 code you have. How many miles do you have on your trailblazer?

What is the code? It sounds to be bank 1 O2 sensor #1.

Usual cause on this model is a bad oxygen sensor.1

Fuel could be an issue, although it is not that common on these. You should check for a restricted fuel filter first before changing pump.

    1997 e350 triton v 10 engine code po171

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0171 is defined by SAE J2012 as "System Too Lean Bank 1".
This is what is known as a fuel trim code. Something is causing the fuel trim on bank 1 of your engine to reach a predetermined maximum set point. This can be caused by many things including vacuum leaks, malfunctioning injectors, a fauly mass airflow sensor, or even a catalytic converter that is clogged up.

If there are no fuel trim problems on the opposite bank, then there is a problem that affects only one bank. It is necessary to access the fuel trim data to correctly identify the problem. You may have fuel trim problems on the opposite bank that have not yet set a code. If the fuel trim data proves that there is no problem on the opposite bank, then this rules out several possiblities like the mass airflow sensor, as it will affect BOTH banks, not just one.

To put it simply: Proper diagnosis required.

The service engine light comes on with a code P0193 "Fuel Pressure High". The fuel pressure per the monitor is 39.6 PSI (273 KPA) and the bank 2 Long Term Fuel is 4.3 compared to 1.6 for bank 1....

this vehicle has a fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. the sensor has a tendency to glich out on the voltage signal from time to time thus making the check engine light come on. does your scan tool have freeze frame data? if so see if the fuel pressure was high when the code set. if the pressure reads over 100 psi then the sensor is going bad.as for the fuel trim data, not an uncommon split from right and left banks if this reading is at idle. -7.0 to + 7.0 is accecptable long term fuel trim as long as both banks read rather close to one another.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2004 Chevy Trail Blazer? WE

On 05+ Trail Blazer, the fuel filter is integral with the fuel pump inside of the fuel tank. It is a non-serviceable part. On 02-04s, the filter is on the drivers side frame rail at about the B-pillar. If your trail Blazer is a late 04 which means that it was build close to the 05 Trail Blazer, you may have a non serviceable fuel filter. Good luck and check under your Trail Blazer or look at your manufactured date sticker on the door which would help you indicate if your 04 is a early Trail Blazer and you'll have the fuel filter on the inside frame rail under the driver's door.

OK. Since you have had so much trouble lets check the dealer for an updated software calibration for the PCM (power train control module). Once we're sure there is no "fix" here lets talk about "lean" engine conditions. Lean means one of two things are wrong with the air fuel mixture (ideally 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel). 1. Too much air -or- 2. Not enough fuel. If you access to a scan tool we need to look at fuel trims. With the engine warm look at this data on the scan tool. You have a "bank 1" and "bank 2" fuel trim data. Additionally, each bank has a long term and a short term value. With the Engine hot and at idle add the LT and ST trim value for bank1 and write it down...do the same for bank2. Repeat this step, for EACH bank with engine at 2500 RPM in park (hold at 2500 for at least 30 seconds so trims update). Now, you have the total trim values for each bank at idle and at 2500 RPM. What should the values be? Total trim +/- 5 is good, +/- 10 borderline any thing greater is code setting territory. If trim numbers are high at idle and in range at 2500 rpm you have a vacum leak behind the mass air flow sensor. Or a faulty MAF. Pay particular attention to the air inlet hose clamps behind (between MAF and engine) the MAF. Also use ford parts only.
