Question about 2005 Ford F 350 Super Duty

1 Answer

My 2005 F-350 Powerstroke 6.0 diesel, has been in the shop numerous times for the same problem, we have had the ERG valve replaced, 3 seperate injectors, the fuel injector control module 2 times, and for some reason when ford puts it on the computer it shows all clear and that the truck has nothing wrong with it, we are very concerned, it has 95,000 miles and our warrenty is almost up, what do we do? Does the Lemon Law apply?

this is obviously a V engine , follow this link for description etc , there is a fair amount of work involved getting acces to the fuel injector system , getting a workshop manual is always a good thing to have as well so you have a step by step guide , keep me posted if you wish

2002 Ford Escape V-6. Originally blew out the ERG. Took it to a shop and had them inspect the cats. They advised rear cat was plugged but the fron 2 were ok. Replaced Cat, Muffler, Plugs, boots and...

You have several bad COP Ignition Coils

The whole approach to solving your vehicle was wrong

I would have done a cylinder leak down test to check engine
mechanical integrety valves etc

Next, new spark plugs & at least the back 3 coils,
assuming you have a V6, because the intake has to come
off to do the plugs

Install the upper intake, smoke test for vacuum leaks,
test & replace all oxygen sensors & all cats, checked
all data, mode #06 misfire counts, fuel trim on a road test
& much more

eg. just go thru the entire motor & fix it all

Some what similar with a 4 cyl

Not saying you neglect the vehicle, but it is not
new & doubt any shops have done much more
than break down repairs over the last 11 years

I'm seeing many or thousands of vehicles just on this
site, ruined from only driving them & never working on
them, because of lack of knowledge & why not, their
bank owned anyway, who pays cash or keeps them
18 years as I do

I have a 2005 Ford F350 diesel with 6.0 powerstroke I have been having problems with a misfire I believe it is fuel injectors. Due to water in the fuel system. i started using diesel clean fuel injector...

Diesel clean will help, but it won't remove all the water in your fuel. Try some water dispersant fuel treatment as well.

I'm guessing your water in fuel light came on? It this happened for any length of time, your fuel water seperator sensor could of shorted out, this will cause a misfire, and will have to be replaced. There are several other things with the 6.0 that could be the problem, but i would start with this first. The back pressure control valve sticking and the pressure sensor out of calibration are also common problems on this engine.

Good luck, i hope this helps.

ATT.NET7.3 POWERSTROKE WONT IDLE 99 MODEL

According to my Haynes Diesel Engine Repair manual this is a list of possible causes.
1.Slow idle incorrectly adjusted
2.Fast idle is inoperative
3.Restricted fuel return system
4.Glow plugs turn off too soon
5.Insufficient fuel suuply to injector pump
6.Injector pump malfunction
7.Incorrect, contaminated or poor quality fuel
8.Air in fuel.
The manual is part number 10330 anywhere they sell Haynes manuals ($20). It has a very good section on the 7.3 especially if you don't want to spend money at a diesel shop every time it needs work. Hope this helps.

sounds like a fuel line. trace the fuel line from under the truck on the driversside should go up the back of the motor. the fuel line is probably spraying over to the passenger side of the motor. yes this could cause a power loss.

Vehicle will not start 7.3 diesel

I have a no start problem with my 1995 7.3L and checked the wiring connectors to the valve cover gaskets to the injectors. One of the terminals (out of five) is burned out on at least two connectors. I'll replace both gaskets and repair the connectors and let you know if that fixes it.
