Toyota vitz with 1sz engine when I put in to drive or reverse has no power

Check your work.
Did you bolt the torque convertor back on the fly wheel.

If your doing a rebuild it would be a good idea to buy a good quality workshop manual for your Vitz. They will list all the torque setting you need.

never mind all this junk about turning 90? and all that do you think we done all this in ford motor co on the assembly line building three engines a minute .----? no if a petrol engine pull bolts down to around 70 lbs ,look at thickness of shank of the bolts this will tell you the tightness and make sure the holes in the block are clean and no oil or water in them .

Black smoke is too much fuel. White smoke is water/coolant going threw the exhaust. I would go after the white smoke first. Do a compression test first. White smoke is usually a blown head gasket. If you find it is and fix it. While apart, either replace the injectors/carb or have the cleaned.

Could be the oil low light or the engine is not charging.

Please check the following:
- Fuel pump pressure ( 41 - 49 psi).
- Exhaust system.
- MAF sensor.
- Remove any extra thick floor mat from under the accelerator pedal.

no year, no joy, ever. 1998 to 2005, for 1SZ, world wide,but never in usa.

what pulley there are like 4- 5 pulleys,

1.0 L 1SZ-FE I4

regardless of which of 5 pulleys.
answer unbolt the pulley , pull it, and seal and replace them.
some need special pullers others generic works.
tell more , get more.
