After replacing my distributor on my 89 toyota corolla it wont start

It is possible that if you replaced the distributor, you simply have the plugs in the wrong firing order. Another possibility is that you need new spark plugs, wires, plugs, distributor rotor and possibly a distributor cap. A long shot problem is the ignition coil, but since you have spark in one plug, it is unlikely.

Car wont start due to ignition Coils wont give spark (sometimes)

Okay, I am not convinced it is the spark. But there is a chance. The fact that torching the plugs allowed it to start tells me you engine is flooding. Do you smell gas? If you open the throttle body with the air cleaner off, does vapor come out when the engine had recently cranked? If it is electrical, then power to both ignition modules is failing, which means A. the ECM is not providing power to the modules, or B. The engine crank sensor has failed. The Cause could be a bad connection to the ECM.
A scope will indicate whether or not the proper pulses are being input and output from the ECM to the modules. Of course it will need to be tested when it is not working compared to when it is. When cranking, the tach should move indicating rotation of the crank, if not, there is a good chance the crank sensor is no good.

92 Honda Civic won't start

I owned the SAME CAR. Love it except when the Distributor went south. You can not tell if the spark is good enough... you can have a Spark on the outside but the compression will require a much stronger spark.

If they put the Distributor in wrong, then you will have an issue.

IF the Timing Belt was moved, then you are going to be fighting this for a while. Best to Start from Scratch with a Good Mechanic and see where it leads you.

If you spray Ether into the Air Box, does the car start? No Start, you have a SPARK ISSUE. STARTS, you have a Fuel Deliver Issue

THE DISTRIBUTOR's are KNOWN to be defective,... Mine was intermittent but when I finally dropped the $225 on a distributor, all of my problems went away.

Did they cross the Spark Plug wires and that is causing your issue? Check the Firing Order.

Test your Fuel Injectors.. Use a NOIDS LIGHT

I changed my coil packs, the car run fine. I sbut it off and went to restart the car, it turns over, is getting gas, and is not getting spark. What is the cause? And where is the crankshaft position...

retrace your steps, what didn't you do ? take your time, review your work, clear any trouble codes from your computer , are your connections good ? check each spark plug to see if your getting spark. if not, then the entire distributor assymbly may need replaced, check cap & rotor, are spark plugs good? if no spark, then no voltage is getting to plugs from distributor assembly, (power transistor, ignition coil, or camshaft position sensor.) is ignition switch recieving battery voltage ? is ECM recieving bat. voltage ? make sure all fuses are OK .every time you do something. dry out any moisture in dis cap/rotor. check ECMrelay, the goal here is to get SPARK to spark plugs, remember that ! keep it simple, one step @ a time. ( do you have a haynes repair manuel, they cover this problem, that way you can test these things as they present them. GET ONE ,NOW!

Car wont start when it rains phillipscott@gmail.com

I'd say it's the spark plug or distributor cap. Instead of writing out a long explanation, here's one already done for you! Should help...
    Spark Plug
  1. The most common reason for a car not starting in the rain is found in the spark plugs. Wire insulation can wear thin and this causes the voltage to arc to the metal of the car engine rather then going into the spark plug. You can check for this visually by opening the hood when it's wet outside and trying to start the car. You might be able to see an arc from the spark plug wires.
  2. Distributor Cap
  3. The second most common issue is the distributor cap. Take a good physical examination of your distributor cap for any signs of a cracks. Also remove the distributor cap and check the inside of it for moisture. If you find any, wipe it clean; it won't work while wet.
  4. Other Issues
  5. If a check of the spark plugs and the distribution cap has not solved your problem, then you have a bigger issue. There are dozens of other reasons a car won't start, from battery corrosion to a fuel filter issue keeping gas from reaching the engine. Though few of these other issues will only affect your vehicle during the rain.
