It doesn't sound good, does it. I honestly couldn't tell you, but he should have checked the fuses, resistors, and your blower motor before he told you that one. If he didn't, go elsewhere. What you should do is get a Hayne's repair manual, and check it out. Or, get a test light, and do some checking. First check the fuse and see if there is power to the blower motor. If there is, then check the resistors, and if they are okay, then the blower motor itself is no good, and will need to be replaced.
Going to a mechanic is just like going to the doctor. It's always good to do your homework before you go so that the doctor and his best friend at the drugstore don't get too many free trips to Hawaii.
I really think a repair manual would help you.
