There is a TSB covering the replacement of one of the dash cluster connectors. One of the terminals in that connector has a loose connection and is arcing. The symptoms your are describing fit perfectly. I have performed this bulletin many times, including my father's '99 and my own '98 Cherokees.

The board if you can call it that, is highly prone to failure like you describe. You can have a lost or floating ground and not see it. There are companies like this: That can fix them. It is cheaper than getting OEM, if there is anyone that has OEM for it.

It's not a circuit board problem. There is a TSB covering the replacement of one of the connectors to the dash cluster.

    So where is this TSB??

SOURCE: security lights flashing after battery cable removal-no start

Anytime you disconnect and reconnect your battery, the factory alarm will arm upon reconnection and the truck will not start. You have to close your doors, then manually lock and unlock the door with your key. This should turn off the security system and you should be able to start the truck.

SOURCE: ignition problem, turn key but nothing happens?

If you have an older model like mine. I have an 88. There is a little black button that you need to push to reset the system. not really sure what it does but i have to push mine every once in awhile. I have to turn the key to the ON position and hold the button down then let the button go and press it one more time and it should be good to start.

2003 Kia Optima - Dashboard Lights not working.

if you have aftermarket lights hooked up to the dash light it has been known to smoke the rheostat that controls the dimmer. I would also check the other fuses, sometimes the cluster refers to the guages themselves and not the lights that illuminate them

1998 town & country. It won't start again.

We had the same problem. It was the circuit board in the dash. There were crackes in one of the solder spots. My mechanic removed the dash and did a spot solder on the place with the cracks. It has worked for two months. It seems the solder spot was with a too cool of a solder when it was manufactured. Do it yourself or get your mechanic to fix the probem.

I replaced car battery engine light and other lights came on .

You should have an electronic dash.  Can you read the mileage or anything.  Did you jump the car prior to replacing the battery?

Dashboard lights dont work

if it's the light for the climate control you can remove the panel again and change the bulb
i install car stereo for a living and it happened to me once
now i remove the panel in those vans without turning the key on to move the shifter so the bulbs aren't on when i yank on the dash panel
i had to get the bulb from the dealer
