There is a problem with the filler neck hose or the vent hose. This is not something that is for a casual mechanic to fix.

Why is gas leaking out my Evap fresh air hose every time i try to put gas in my car and start it

I suspect you are OVERFILLING your tank...

There should be a direct connection from your canister to the top of the fill tube. It is intended to safely draw out gas fumes.

even if you don't OVERFILL... gasoline can expand (coming from the cold ground... into a nice warm car) enough to repeat the symptoms you have depicted.

Try putting in less gas...

Things will most probably resolve themselves... otherwise you might need a new canister.

Be safe... DO NOT OVERFILL.

My float is stuck and buying a new fuel pump assembly is out of the question, is there anything i can do to repair myself?

It is rare that this will help, but sometimes if you fill the fuel tank all the way to the top of the fuel inlet (where you put gas in) it can "unstick" the float.

One possible reason a float sticks is someone overfilled the tank.

Can't fill the gas tank, I had the check valve replaced in the gas line and it work once and now it's back to not letting me fill it. I unplugged it but would like it to work. Any ideas what it may be?

fuel vent Charcoal canister will make it difficult to fill the gas, this canister vents the gas tank and if you overfill the tank then it screws up the Charcoal canister and will need to be replaced, I just found an old canister from the used parts place and had my mechanic replace it, went directly to the gas station and presto no more problem filling gas. DO NOT overfill your tank after replacing canister!

When i fill up the tank of the 1993 cutl. cierra, a strong gas smell comes from the car...

It's the gas cap tightly in place? Did you overfill it? Can you see any sigh of leakage?

Some times when we overfill our gas tank, the spilled gas gets into cracks or holes in the body of the vehicle and takes a while to evaporate.

If the smell is still strong after one hour, take it to the shop to have it checked for leaks.

Gas leaking out where you fill the front tank

You probably have a defective fuel-tank selector valve. Its located on the left frame rail, halfway down. While the vehicle is running, tank"A" is pumping fuel to the engine, while tank "B" is getting the unneeded fuel that is returning from the engine. Thats why it is overflowing.

I CAN'T PUT GAS IN MY 2003 LANCER

Your evap charcoal canister is full from being overfilled. The biggest problem with "topping off" is that it can wreck the evap system.
This system collects gasoline fumes from the tank and routes them to the engine for combustion.
Overfilling could force raw gas to enter the system and prevent it from working right. It could also cause a condition where you have a hard time filling the tank, as the system can't properly relieve pressure from the tank and the gas pump's automatic shutoff keeps engaging.

You will need to replace the canister for the fix.

Gas back-up out the tank like it full

We have did some research on this and believe it to be a problem with the car being overfilled with gas at one time or another. It seems if overfilled it runs back into charcoal canister which stops up the lines and then the problem begins.

I have talked to Hyundai and the parts alone for this is $280.00 plus labor. I am just dealing with the issue at this time because I have other pressing matters, but man is this annoying!
