Have a 1993 jeep cherokee 4.0 straight 6. Was just told that the exhaust manafold has a crack in it. The trany has over 278,000 miles, but it has a new egine five years ago...is it time to get another?

You know these exhaust manifolds crack it is just a jeep thing. Only you can decide, but with a newer engine and you know the condition of the trans, you might end up with something worse-with all those miles, who knows though-my 99 TJ (same engine, 2 sets of exhaust heads now) has 219,000 miles and the original clutch-if something like an exhaust head went on mine, I'd just replace it, it is not that expensive, just shop around for the header and shop around for someone to install it if you can't (or won't)-should be able to fix it for around $100-150.

Rough idle when wet

Go to your local parts store, buy a Di-Electric grease. It's not expensive. Pull each plug wire off one at a time. Take a screwdriver or something to stick inside the boot of the wire. Put this grease inside the plug wires on both ends, and also around any other wire you see that have a potential of getting wet. The keeps out moisture and really works. I did a friends VW this way and the VW dealership couldn't figure out what was wrong so this shuld help the problem.

I have 05 battery, something keeps draining it. Positive terminal gets corrosive, cleaned connecttions- ok, the next day the truck would not start again. It wasdead.

seems like you have acid leaking out of the post and that causes the corosion ,if thats the case you can try to seal around the post or replace the battery and also the acid may have gotten in the cable and eaten the wire inside the insulation of the cable, and leaking can cause the battery to run down because it is wet and shorts across the terminals ,allways keep you battery clean and dry. when i clean the terminals i use alittle white lithuim grease to coat the terminal and post.hope this helps.

Where is the electronic level loader located? Ours runs constantly amd runs down the battery-we have a 1996 custom cruiser and are not able to find any information

You should be able to locate the fuse in the fuse panel. It should be something around a 30amp. Removing the fuse will keep the pump from running.

I don't understand the running down the battery - the system should not run when the ignition is off.

Air conditioner compressor will not run unless you straight wire the relay in the fuse box on 98 mercury mountaineer

Stop wiring around the control system. Something is wrong with the A/C and if you force the unit to run, you expose serious damage, when all you have now is likely a leak. Low pressure switch will interrupt compressor actuation. This was installed to keep small issues small. In the olden days, one would get a leak, the system would then self destruct.
the reason is that the lubrication of the system relies on correct refrigerant quantity, which carries the lube.... low ref., no oil flow.

How long of a warranty did he give you on it? My guess is that if it's out of warranty you don't have much of a chance, let alone after an accident.

Electronic level control keeps running

Probably the ride height sensor on the rear drivers swing arm (you can see it without removing the tire or jacking up the vehicle), looks like a small can with a rod connecting the body to the swing arm. It's a 3 wire potentiometer, can be checked with a multimeter.

I opened my gas tank to put in fuel yesterday and there was a green-like film around the gas cap and the opening to my tank. Is this something I should be concerned about? The car has 21K miles on it....

Green film does not indicate anything wrong with the car. It is posible that someone tried to, or did put something in the tank to make the car not run. If car starts, and runs OK, i would not worry about it. Just clean the substance from the cap and opening and keep an eye out for any engine running problems. Tech JK
