Check your brake petal height may need to bleed your brakes to bring the petal back up so the switch don't get bumped by the brake petal

Stabilizer traction control light is on, and lost cruise control

Cruise control will always disable itself when any CEL light is present, so that's normal. The Stabilitrak light problem is a known common problem with these. Your steering wheel position sensor needs to be replaced. Mine does it every morning IF my steering wheel wasn't put into a straight position when I parked it. Straighten the tires, turn the ignition off and restart. Light will go out.

I have a 2002 Mazda MPV. When do I turn on/ off overdrive to my transmission

By default, your automatic transmission has a torque converter that is the main focus to your car\truck changing gears. I had one break on me in a Nissan Sentra and was glad I was close to where I was going because I would have otherwise been stranded.

If you live in a mountainous area and do a lot of traveling going up and down hills, your best bet, as long as you are above 58 mph(like going thru Denver on Interstate 70 and going west thru the Rockies, then it is okay to leave the overdrive on. I would, however, recommend that going up an incline of more than 30* then you may want to turn it off until you have reached a sustainable speed. If you are towing more than 800 lbs on a trailer on an incline of more than 20* then you would want to turn the overdrive off as the torque converter putting your vehicle into overdrive with a heavy load can cause the converter to snap within the transmission and you would be dead in the water.

If you live in a more plain-like state then the only time you really NEED to turn off the overdrive is if you are hauling a large amount of cargo any real distance or rarely get over 4300 rpm due to such short traveling distances. Overdrive function is primarily used to cut down on the amount of fuel needed in order to take long journey on Interstate or State highways that allow for speeds faster than 55 mph.
Hope this helps.

I have a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis and I was driving on the interstate with the cruise on and had problems. Now it won't shift into overdrive and the cruise will periodically come on. Any suggestions on...

try disconnecting the cruise control to find out if that or tranny...find cruise control unit next to throttle cable under hood and disconnect electrical plug. GL PS dont disconnect while running eng or with key in start position to be safe

Transmission on 2008 automatic will not shift to overdrive, cruise control will not turn on

Usually when the check engine light is on the car will not go into overdrive Use a scan tool to retrive the codes first and repair problems related to the codes Clear the codes then see if you still have trouble with overdrive

1999 Nissan Maxima Auromatic Transmission 4th gear electronic overdrive intermittantly slips.

could be a solenoid
low oil
worn overdrive friction discs

you can source a used transmission from a wrecker
and drop that in

from the pictures i cant tell if its overdrive is under an external plate at the end of the gearbox
and repaired with an overdrive kit

2004 nissan sentra 1.8, service engine soon light comes on and stays on. All gauges work correctly. The only problem is: 1. no cruise control 2. no overdrive thanks for your assistance,

i think you have two problems.you need to find out what fault code is stored thats setting check enginelight.overdrive and cruise issue could be caused by a bad or misadjusted brake pedal switch.

Hyundai Overdrive wont engage

It is not suggested strip and twist wires. Better take it to an authorized service station to check what causes the problem. Is it OVERDRIVE SWITCH or CRUISE CONTROL MODULE faulty?
Over drive switch has three points. (5 to 4 selects "ON" or 5 to 6 selects "OFF").
Right click on following schematic, "save picture as" to a location in your PC so you have a ZOOM IN view.
