Head gasket repair cost

Fx35 overheating. coolant reservoir fills all the way to the top, releasing out the overflow spout. very hot coolant. near boiling. everything buy the head gasket has ben looked over replaced.

If it's spraying out of the spout and is boiling, it's very possible that one of the head gaskets blew depending on how long it takes to overheat.

A few things to look for:
Inspect the radiator. Make sure all of the cooling fins are there, and not obstructed by dirt/debris.
Make sure the cooling fan is turning on (it should turn on when the temperature is approximately at the halfway point of the temp gauge).
Look at the color of the "smoke" coming from the tailpipe. White = steam. Some steam is normal, however, if it's constant, and a lot of it, it's a blown head gasket indicator.
Blue = burning oil. Black = unburned fuel,

Hi,
If the car is overheating it could be due to a thermostat which is stuck in the closed position, a failed water pump or just a slack belt driving it. I think there will be a "little" tube carrying coolant from the engine to the coolant expansion tank, and if you run the engine with the filler cap removed you should see water coming through that pipe IF the rump is running. A failed water pump will not necessarily leak, it just won't pump the water round the engine.

Always take care when dealing with a pressurised cooling system on an overheating engine - the water may well be above boiling point.

If you run the engine without coolant the cylinder head may well warp and repair bill will be huge.

SOURCE: Coolant overflowing out of expansion tank no boil no steam

As you've stated driving around town it's fine, and everything is working well. For the symptoms, there are 2 possible causes:
1. Your cooling fans are not working.
2. Your radiator needs to be replaced.
I'm sure you can determine which it is, and I wish you luck on your repair.

When running the engine TOUCH the bottom part of the radiator fins, if the temperature is not the same or cold, u got a blocked radiator FiNS, and u need to replace it! Check also ur Radiator fan, note down what temperature it started to work. If the Fan works at high temp, means ur TEMPERATURE SENSOR switch for rad fan is not working or it has a higher temp operating value! Hope that might solve ur temperament! j/k!

Not knowing what the dealer did to diagnose your problem, the first thing that comes to mind is a clogged/defective thermostat. When coolant backs up into the reservoir, it's an indication of a blockage and that blockage is typically the thermostat. The problem shouldn't be related to the AC system at all.

Car overheating


You may have a blown engine head gasket. Check your oil to see if it is milky because water is getting into the oil, and check the water to see if oil is getting into the coolant.
If you have either of these, you may need to have a new head gasket for the engine, and hopefully you do not have a cracked engine head.
This will require a fair bit of work to fix correctly. Your local garage or mechanic may be your next call.
There are some products you can use in the coolant for either of these, but it is only a temporary fix.

I have a mitsubishi galant ms 1989 1.8L SOHC with the 4g37 fuel injected motor. I am having overheating propblems and I can't get it sorted. The car is building up an air lock in the top radiator


building up air /pressure in the radiator is a head gasket problem so have a compression test done to check it
if the gasket was place incorrectly , it could be blocking a water hole between head and block
If the head stud holes were not cleaned out properly , the studs could be bottoming out and not getting the proper tension on the head
if you did not use the proper rotation and sequence in tightening the head down it will leak at the head
if you have a viscous fan hub ( fan clutch ) it could be faulty ( overheating at lights , slow traffic, high engine rpms)
if you have electric fan , could be a coolant temp sensor, fuses or fan relay

My boyfriend has a 91 Toyota 4runner v6 SR5. He has replaced the radiator and thermostat. Also he has bled the coolant system several times. The truck is still losing coolant. If he drives the truck...


When engine completely cools remove coolant from overflow reservoir to the cold mark on the reservoir which is the lowest mark on reservoir. If you continue to loose coolant you may have busted block.

Sounds like to me your mechanic is on the right track by having the rad cap changed. If the coolant becomes low again in the near future and there is no visible fluid leak on outside of engine or on floor/ground then your problem is internal and possibly a head gasket.

Our fx35 over heated and refuse to start


Hi.

If the car overheated you may have blown the head gasket and other in the block. In that case the engine may not start anymore because of lack of compression, because piston rings are gone, valves may have been damaged etc. Another part that in many vehicles may blow with engine surge from overheating is the fuel pump. There are more parts that must be tested. If overheating drained the coolant fluid reservoir, then the head gasket usually must be replaced. Try replacing the spark plugs. If there have been overheating and engine surging the spark plugs must be replaced. If that does not do the job, then there is a major fault to troubleshoot.

Why is water shooting out of the cooling system overflow reservoir?


Sniff around the coolant reservoir for the scent of exhaust fumes and check the color of the coolant in the reservoir.
If you see discoloration or smell 'exhaust' type fumes, you may have a blown head gasket.

Coolant coming out of the overflow spout after shutting down.


about 100K miles? sounds like a blown head gasket is allowing coolant to be pushed out the exaust,and combustion pressure is pushing fluid out the overflow.have your compression tested.
