Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 2000 Hyundai elantra suddenly wouldn't start. After getting a jump start it, it eventually started. The week leading up to this the car wouldn't start initially, only after I attempted it once. I assumed the alternator but it works fine. I am starting to smell fuel and my check engine light just came on after the jump start. Any suggestions on what to check next?

The first step is to get a scan and see why the check engine light is on.Unfortunately it could be any number of things.Bad crank angle sensor, bad camshaft sensor just to name two items that I have seen cause a no start.good luck

Hello, I have a 2004 pontiac grandam and it's a 4 cylinder and the security light has been on for over 2 weeks steady, but my car has been starting, but last nite while starting it stalled alittle and

If the security light is on, it can only be one thing. This light indicates a failure in the antitheft system that will eventually lead to your car refusing to start or continue running. Here is a link with alot of info, plus ways to beat this problem.

The overdrive does'nt work in this 2000 Elantra .I'm wondering if Ishould buy it.

My advice is to weigh the asking price for the car against a transmission repair. Incidentally, it is not necessarily debilitating for the overdrive not to work but it will eventually lead to a transmission overhaul or replacement which is costly.

I have a 1998 hyundai elantra i had to push it in

hi from uk have read your symptoms and from what you have described your starting /failure to turn engine ? 1st have you checked the leads to the starter motor are secure ? especially the single thin wire that fits to the starter solenoid on a spade connector ensure it is fully clipped on ? if ok ? may i suggest you try this ?= connect a single jump lead to the earth connector post on battery then the other end of jump lead to a suitable earth connection on the engine then try starter ifthis works your problem is a faulty/corroded or loose earth connection from the battery to the chassis/andon to engine usually connected to a bolt on point where trans connects to engine ? for info i have come across this problem a few times on accents and found that for some reason the thin wire connected to starter solenoid had come loose due to not clipped fully on also the earth lead from batteries have not had clean/securety loose bolt hope this helps and wish you luck

My 2000 Elantra is slow to start what could be wrong with it?

Could be several things..
If it is turning slow on starting - it could be a week battery..
If it turning good and fast on starting it could need a tune up..
Pugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter, oxygen sensors...

Have a great day !
