Dead channel on 1988 reatta radio

Either the speaker is messed up or wiring to the speaker is broken somewhere or the radio itself is broken in that channel only and needs replaced.

Want to replace factory radio with aftermarket

It wont mess up the ECM but you'll most probably lose the door chime and the lights on chime. They both work through the factory radio, chiming through the left speaker.

Radio problem

You may have to pull radio out to check that it was correctly wired up,Im assuming its not the original factory fitted radio? If it is the original then removal for repair and testing would likely be the only option, either way radio has to be pulled out and wiring checked first.

Alarm location

trace the speaker wire from your engine side to the inside of the car.

if you remove the fuse of the alarm and the effect is you can not start the car, then i would suggest that you remove also the immobilizer relay.

tnx 4 using fixya,
